experts,
hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge that many of the members on this forum have. i have been kicking the idea of building a rifle around for a long time. i know almost exactly what i'm looking for. the advice i'm hoping to get lies in the equiptment choices. while offering suggestions, please feel free to ask questions of me that might seem offensive. i'm a long time shooter but there is a great deal of lingo and concepts on this "project" that i am unfamiliar with. i have a strong desire to learn all i can on this hopefully upcoming build. lets start with what i want, or at least what i believe i want.
-i want the rifle to be chambered in 6mmbr with a 1-8 twist barrel.
-i want a "tactical" style stock. i will be shooting almost exclusively prone and also from a bench. i will probably shoot these positions almost equally.
-i think i want a barnard single shot action that i can bed into a v-block. i am familiar with the fact that some mfg's offer v-block options but is it an option that i can carry over to any mfg of stocks?
-basically i want to be able to do all of the "work" as far as building a rifle is concerned aside from chambering the barrel.
i'm not opposed to bedding my first action with a method other than a v-block but it will be my first time doing so. what will my advantages be in choosing a bedding system other than v-block?
part of my component choices so far have to do with cost because i'm not independently wealthy
so please keep that in mind. what i do have is plenty of time and desire to learn. thank you everyone for your time.
