6mmBR body dies..SO WHATS THE DIFFERENCE!!

I have got two Redding 6BR body dies. The one is marked "body x5", and the other is marked "SB body N6:.n
I know that the SB probably stands for "small base".
Now I know when I run an empty case through them that one is definitly tighter than the other.
But what is the difference, and what is the use for them.
Thank you

Full length sizing the case and bumping the shoulder is not the be-all-end-all solution for brass sizing. Sometimes the bottom end of the case (the web) slowly grows wider and becomes tight in the chamber. Aka “clickers”. Small base dies or full length sizing dies with small base effect will size all the way down over the web and solve the problem. Especially in late 2022, making premium brass last longer is valuable.

In my experience the clickers don’t happen with moderate loads and quality brass but if you shoot match loads where pressures are at the limits, expect it.

Fwiw, a 308 or 30-06 small base die will do the same thing for less money. Also, a RCBS 45acp die works well. I have a few different custom ones for various .473 case head cases in incrementally smaller dimensions depending on which case needs it. Typically my 260AI brass gets the smallest ring die, 6br gets the 45acp die, and 30-06 might get either a SB die or 45acp die depending on the brand of brass.

Fast14: I used my SB308 die on 6BR brass. Works fine. As it turns out, I had a length issue rather than a diameter issue anyway. But it confirmed my option, should I need it.
