6mmAI brass from Lapua 30-06?

Is it possible to make 6mmAI brass from 30-06 brass?

I know some make it from Norma 7x57, but looking for an option with Lapua.

Yes i think it can be done but the closer fit will be 7X57. you would need a couple of step dies in order to form from 30-06 . I have heard that lapua is going to make 7x57 . Do'nt know if this is of any help or not .

Yes you can, I’ve made 244 AI cases from 30-06 brass. I used my high-speed arrow cut off saw to trim / cut the brass back. Then used the 7x57 die to form the case, then down to 257 and 244. I used my Redding case trimmer to do the final trim to length. I’ve made up 20 rounds this way and all worked out just fine.
I’ve made them (244) out of 7x57 as well. I think one could use 270 or 280 brass in the same fashion.

Good shooting..

I would think that you'd need to neck turn, also, due to the new "neck" formerly being a thicker part of the case. Or am I wrong in this assumption?

Buck,

What tools/ dies would I need to do this with 30-06 brass? step dies, etc?

I currently have a 6mmAI FL bushing die and a 6MM rem standard FL die.

Any assistance you can offer is appreciated.
