Picked up a used Cooper mdl 22 6mm284 26" bbl, Phoenix stock, redding deluxe 3 die set, 100 new cases, and the guy is bringing in about 40 loaded. He said he had about 200 rounds thru it and then hasn't used it in a while and he is the 2nd owner. So I'm not sure about the barrel, but got it with the idea of having Cooper re-barrel to a 6br. The 6br I have now is about 13.8 lbs with scope so need another one that is lighter, more of a walk around gun. Will find out what and how it's loaded and give a go with what he has. Did I need it? No! but it was there

Had the barrel scoped and it turns out to be like new, not many rounds thru it. Started working up loads and found the Berger 90gn to shoot the best so far. The pic shows three diff powder chgs of H4831SC with the 49.5 gns producing the tightest group so far. This is 100 yds. Should be a good varmint load. Will shoot this barrel till it needs a new on. 
I would encourage you to shoot the 6mm-284 till it is worn out. I like this round and even have my own reamer.
While I did make a heavy barreled 30'' rifle, I have also made two sporters.
If you want the ultimate flat shooter for varminting without worrying about hold over to 350 yd, use the 55 gr nosler bt with varget:
55 gr nosler bt fed 210 primer, 6.5-284 Lapua brass necked down, 53 gr of Varget Velocity 4178 fps from 24 barrel
or hunting antelope or deer:
95 gr berger Classic hybrid hunter 54 gr of RL-17
Lapua 6.5-284 necked down to 6mm Fed 210 primer
45 degrees 3433 (12-15-2014) 80 degrees 3465 fps
I would suggest you work up to these powder charge weights and see how your rifle responds. You can expect a barrel life of 1100 rounds or so.
