6mm Wildcats

I am starting to work with a couple of 6mm Wildcat cartridges, and wonder if you guys could give me a starting point.

Cartridge 1 - this one is like an improved 219 Donaldson Wasp but in 6mm. Barrel is a Lilja 3 groove with a 1-12" twist and 26" length. Bullet used will be Sierra's 85 gr. B.T. - H.P. Game King, as one of my other 6mm Bench Rest rifles will shoot low 1's with this bullet.

Cartridge 2 - this one is based on a full length and maximized 30-30 case and necked to 6mm. This cartridge should run neck and neck with the 243 Winchester. This one will only see Match bullets from 100 gr. to the 115 gr. DTAC. Barrel has a 1-7.5" twist rate 28" in length.

Brass has been Match prepped.

Your thoughts on starting loads please.

A little bit more information.

Both guns are built around a fully accurized Winchester M70 action, and both guns are set up as single shots with a bench rest follower glued in place.

The "smaller" gun sits in a McMillan McHale stock, and the other one sits in a McMillan Tooley MBR stock.

Both barrels wear a muzzle brake.

Both triggers are set at 5 ounces.

Both rigs sit on a Sinclair F Class bipod, with a Bald Eagle small rabbit ear bag.

Reloading will be done with hand dies, using Wilson bushings for neck sizing. Bullet seating will be done with Wilson's micrometer bullet seating dies.

For now, both guns wear Vortex scopes.

I have 150 rounds of prepped brass for each gun, and lot's of bullets to test.

Just need to know what powder and load to start each rifle off with.

if these ctgs use 30-30 ctg cases ,,,,then you are limited on the mount of pressure they can stand,,,,use 6mm SM Wasp data reduced 25% and 6mm American also reduced 25%,,,,Roger

I'm aware of the pressure limitations with these two rounds, and have thought of using 375 Winchester brass since that will allow for safe pressures over 50,000 psi, which I use in a couple of other guns.

I forgot all about the 6mm American! I have a bunch of load data from Jim Stekyl, who shot that cartridge in a Remington XP-100. Those should be perfect starting loads for the full length 6mm Armadillo, and will not need to be reduced because of the greater powder capacity.

6mm SM Wasp?!?! What is that? I have never heard of that cartridge before.

the 6mm SM Wasp was created by Seeley Masker back in the 70's when 220 Russian SAKO brass (the original parent case for PPC's) was hard to get ,,,the price went up to over a dollar each (that was like 5$$ now !!!),,,,he used .225 WIN brass as the parent ctg,,,,it had "almost" the same case capacity as a PPC,,,shot just as good ,,,finally Lapua came on the market here in the US and saved the benchrest game from oblivion ,haha,,,they also brought 6mmBR to us who were stumbling along with the original Remington brass that was terrible,,,,Roger
