6mm SLR sizing issue

Setting up my redding resizing die, I used some older fired 243 brass to figure out what adjustable shellholder to use (didn't want screw up new brass figuring out how to size this stuff). Anyways the +.008 was a little tight, went with the +.006 for a nice smooth bolt close. Started running the new WW brass and bolt won't close. Throw the +.004 in, and the bolt will close, but very tight. Try the +.002, same thing. Try factory .000 shellholder, same thing. Now if I try sizing an older shot piece of brass, chambers just fine. Only have the tight bolt close on sized virgin brass????

Different brass can have different "spring back" or resistance to sizing. Seems like your die may need to be down slightly further in the press. The comp shell holders won't tighten up the head space if it's not far enough to start with.

^^^^This...
Or the Old brass is work hardened and should be annealed before starting the process. This will cause the brass to take a form vs springing back just a little bit.

Why don't you measure so you can see what it going on? The 6SLR brass should measure 1.639" from base to .375 datum.

You could also Dykem the shoulder and neck or paint it with Magic Marker. Chamber the case and see where it is rubbing. Some dies leave a small ring at the neck base that is the source of hard chambering.
