I'm headed out now to try some 70gr Varmageddon pills. They have a flat base, but one hell of a jump. IMR 3031 behind them.
Yes I also have had very good luck with N-165 & 160 with the 6 AIN-165. Left hodgdon and wont be going back
I think FB go into the 90gr depending on manu so if that's needed you should be able to find something heavier in FB. Really curious to see your results.I'm headed out now to try some 70gr Varmageddon pills. They have a flat base, but one hell of a jump. IMR 3031 behind them.
So far the flat base is doing much better. Shot a 5 shot 1 moa group yesterday with 45.0 gr Varget and the 70 gr varmageddon pills. Setting up for a ladder test in .2 increments. My 243 ai is a 10t also. It shoot the same pills lights out at 3798 fps.I think FB go into the 90gr depending on manu so if that's needed you should be able to find something heavier in FB. The n160 had a lot of pressure with the 87 vmax. May revisit it with 70's. The only downfall is temp sensitivity. Weather here can get goofy and swing 20-30° from night to night. I'm not sure how much that will affect me.Yes I also have had very good luck with N-165 & 160 with the 6 AI
That was my main reason for sticking with the Hodgdon extreme series of powders. Here in Saskatchewan the Temps will vary from +40 c to -50 c. I regularly hunt mule deer/whitetail anc call coyotes in -30. I would like as little velocity change as possible. The n160 had a lot of pressure with the 87 vmax. May revisit it with 70's. It has been bedded. One of the first things I did with it.Might want to think about bedding the chassis. I had a few chassis (other big name brands) that were not flush with certain recoil lugs and bedding them brought the group size right down
As low as the round count is, I'd hope it's not the barrel.I’d stop wasting money and get a new barrel, it is telling you all you need to know. Have you borescoped it?
