6mm rem or ream to ai?

I just bought a Rem VLS in 6mm rem. I have a custom light weight 700 in 6mm ai. Trying to decide to ream it or not.I don't know if a lot of 6mm vls were made. What do y'all think?

I bought a 6mm VLS new in the late 90`s that was very accurate,,shot the 70 gr NBT and enough 4064 for 3500 fps and it was nasty on small varmints,,with IMR4831 it would push the 100 Hornady BTSP to 3150 and would smash a whitetail also,,after about 3,000 rounds I traded it for a VSSF-II 204 when they came out,,

I would shoot it as it is,,

Well...They don't make the VLS in 6mm Rem at all anymore !!! I have 2 of them and shoot them as is. They both shoot very well !!

Read over Mike J. page ( see link below) over his experiences with the 6mm to 6mm Ackley. In short he says he would never rechamber a factory tube again. I agree with him. Shot your 6mm Rem and enjoy it. I have had 2 of them and love the 6mm Rem. I currently have a 1:12 twist Shilen chambered in a 6mm Rem as by Varmint rifle. My factory tubes have both been 1:9.25 twist. One would shoot the 107 SMK and one would not. I am below 1000 ft so it was the edge of stability. However the 105 AMax is a fine bullet. You can also run the 95 Berger VLD. I have pushed them to 3150 fps and shot them at 600 yds with fine results.

I also have a 6mm Rem AI with a Hart barrel that Dave Tulley built me. It is a hammer.

If it shoots good now leave it stock. The get a replacement from Krieger on order. They take a while to make.
My buddy has a VLS in .243. It is a nice looking gun and shoots great for him with the stock barrel.

I have owned a 6 mm rem for 35 years, fox, coyote, antelope. Very accurate with shilen barrel and 85 gr sierra bthp, actually it is a .244...1/12 twist. Would not consider changing it to a 6 ai. Just my opinion......what is there to gain, 100 fps? I have four AI, 257, 22 250 and a 223. Not sure why!

Great resource - Thankyou for sharing it

It appears to me that you have both standard and the AI. In this situation you are the best guy to answer your own question.
Witch one do you like to shoot the most and gives you the most pleasure?

On the other hand, maybe you should think about another caliber for one of them, sort of a expanding your horizons type situation . This would enable you to experience new territory relative to calibers.
A suggestion would be the 6.5 caliber with any one of a lot of cases.

Just think about what you will use the rifle for, that’s the key to making this kind of decision.

Good luck.

I have a friend that says to ream the VLS to AI. Sence i all ready have one. But i think i will leave it as is. For now anyway. Don't know how many more times i'll get to go p doging. Thanks to all that replied.
