6mm Rem BR ?

I came into possession of a 3 die set of Redding dies that are marked 6mm Rem BR.

I’m still a noob when it comes to precision reloading. I’ve never heard of this caliber. I have a 6BR Norma which I reload for.

What are these dies actually for?

Thank you!

The 6BR Remington has a couple minor differences, IIRC, case OAL is a tiny bit shorter. My Redding Competition Die set is marked 6BR Remington as well. I called Redding Tech Support quite a while back and was told they work for both the Remington and Norma versions.
Maybe this will explain the biggest difference (free bore), as the Remington version was designed around lighter weight bullets:

I bought my set of Redding 6br dies last year and they’re marked 6 BR REM. I think that’s all that Redding offers. They work fine for my 6br Norma.
I queried Redding about the very same thing and they told me that though the box is marked 6 BR Remington that the dies were for the Norma version…
The primary difference between the original Remington 6BR and the Norma 6BR is the length of the neck… Ask me how I know,,,
Had a {un-named Pommy gunsmith} chamber up a new barrel for my F Open rifle when it was new barrel time and though it would chamber my 6BR, Norma Lapua made brass & fire, the brass came out with a very slight rolled in at the case mouth look… As though it had held a crimped/cannelured bullet… He had an old original Rem 6BR reamer and when returned he borrowed a different reamer from someone to fix the chamber….
GUESS WHAT!! Same problem….! In the end I contacted the original builder to find out what reamer had been used {a JGS no neck turn} and bought my own reamer and had it Fed-Ex to me {$$$} to get the job done… Success finally after losing about an inch off the barrel due to it having been set back twice… Then he had the nerve to try to charge me for the work in addition to the original payment made when I first picked up the rifle…
I refused and he and I parted company with frowns….
Now I own all my own reamers so that I can have the same chamber each time I re-barrel.
Saves hassle and worry!
