6mm Rem AI

Thanks. It’s a 1-8 twist I believe. I have 8# of h4831. It’s in a McMillan hunter br stock, bat m action so lots of options when it comes time to for another barrel.
Still need to get a good scope for it.
I believe the Ackley version duplicates the same results as a 6x284 Win

105 Bergers up to 115 DTACS with H1000 will give you very consistent accurate results
you can shoot it wayyyyyyyy past 1000 yards and still have some Energy
RL 25, RL26 works too if ya got that
---
As stated above 3300 fps is a pretty common / not hot load for a newer long barrel
I tried RL22 and 7828 but, groups opened slightly , (likely due to less fill percentage on the case)
Less efficient doing it that way, but then again you use less powder if you go to a faster powder
Slower powders than H1000 can work well also
WC 857, 862, 8700, RVO 62 etc etc
---
H1000 is just the easy button
---
if you set your barrel back you might consider going to a 6x284 (35 deg shoulder, approx .130 FB)
I believe you can get better brass and it forms easy from 6.5/284 or straight .284 brass
maybe get 50 more fps and OAL of brass will be significantly shorter also
---
Barrel life will depend how you shoot it, I have over 1300 on my 6x284 and score approx ave.
145/150 each string in F-Class with it on a Harris bipod (lots of 10 rings)
Last barrel lasted 1900 rnds (some call that a barrel burner, I call that the price of admission)
indicate your barrel and measure your land height, anything .003" and up... you have lots of life left

I have some H1000. I have 8# of H4831 and 16# of H450 (from what I was able to research it’s a ball powder similar to H4831).
I recently got interested in the 284, I was thinking a fast twist 25-284 would be really cool and using 131gr bergers.
I don’t shoot f class, recently started a shooting groundhog shoots and I’m going to do 600 yd freedom. Maybe 1000 yd this summer.

Have a 6AI built on a Deviant LA with 28" Bartlien 8 twist, I can get 3300 with the 105's and H4831 and 3500 with 95vld and 4350.
I formed all my brass from Lapua 30-06 and Norma 7x57.
I only have about 500 rounds down the barrel it was built for a groundhog gun.
