6MM PRC

The Bench rest guys really like, the Small Primers / Brass But out huntin', in the Bitter COLD,.. No, Thanks !
Everything I own Has, Large Primers,. except the Pistols and One,. .223 Rem / 5;56.
If you don't want to "Convert" to, the Lge Primer Brass, you'll Have to Live with, some "Dud's" ( Hang Fires ).
I've discussed this with, 4 or 5 guys,. getting,.. Hang-Fires.

zero hang fires or duds with stick powders.

Yup,. Changing to, Stick Powders, IS, the Simple,.. Fix !
I absolutely HATE hand weighing Stick Powders, so I bought a New, Lee Perfect Powder measure, JUST for, "Them"
I'm in the Process of "Wringing it Out" right Now to see If, I can "Trust it" to be +- a couple of tenths of a Grain.
So Far IMR 8208xbr, Passes "That Test",.. IMR 4350,.. Not, so much !
Good Luck !

In lieu of any data, I would think 6-284 data would be a safe starting place since it is only a tiny bit smaller.
More than a tiny bit
6x284 is 60 grns of water
6mm PRC is approx 58 grns
---
would liken the 6 PRC more to a 243 AI ,
the 243 AI is 57 grns of water

That surprises me. My 30-6.5PRC is 70gns of water and I think the 7-6.5PRC is about the same.

Per GRT the 6.5-284 is 66.3 gr H2O and the 6.5 prc is 68 gr so the 6prc (6-6.5 prc) should mimic the 6-284 rather well, and, fit better in a short action. I have both the 6.5-284 and 6-284 and could dripple water

My reamer was throated for the 105 class bullets, and fit perfectly in a S/A with the Wyatt's box with room to spare.

6-284 reamer?

7-6.5 PRC (Lapua brass) is just a tick under at 69.4 gr. of water for my current lot.

You might wanna check those capacities again......
Thanks
I just double checked
I might have typed wrong in my search
Im finding (Corrected) the 6 PRC is 56-58 grns of water
---
I dont own a PRC myself but last I looked at a 6.5 PRC case my mind instantly said
"That looks kinda smaller" - compared to the 6x284 case especially in length being over .100" longer according to the above JGS Reamer Print
---
I know I am definitely looking at and liking the PRC cases

This is an old 1970’s coyote load 90gr FMJ (tried to save furs) 6-284 with a new 105vld set to get the bullet body above the donut. Best in a long action.

I don't see how usable case capacity measurably changes when necking up or down, as you're not altering the body.

Seems every manufactures brass even in the same cartridge has a slightly different amount of case capacity.
I've only measured case capacity in Hornady and ADG 6.5 PRC brass but they were both right at 68gr H2O with Hornady having a couple tenths more. I don't have any Lapua but they're usually pretty close to whatever Hornady's is.

I use Lapua in both my 6-284 and 6.5-284. I'll have to look back through my notes but if I recall it's right around 67gr H2O and that is from a fired case. New brass and sized brass always measure slightly less then fired unsized.
