6MM PPC USA Loading

I have a question about reloading 6mm PPC USA. The rifle I will be reloading for is a factory Sako 6MM PPC bolt action with no modifications. I have purchased a Lee FL die set, Federal 205 small rifle primers, new Norma 6MM PPC USA brass and 58 gr. Hornady Vmax bullets. Because this is not a custom chambered rifle, I assume I will be able to full length size, chamfer the case necks, deburr the flash hole if needed and load.

I understand that 6MM PPC USA chambers are different than 6MM PPC chambers and that most of you guys use .220 Russian cases that are fire formed and have had the necks turned for your specific rifles etc. Before I get started, I thought I should pick the brains of experienced 6MM PPC loaders to get the correct information and not just assume. Thanks in advance.

I have a Sako 6PPC USA rifle, it's a single shot older model. Just trim that Norma brass and treat it like any other gun.

I had a SAKO Vixen Hunter and SAKO brass some years back. I never used reformed .220 Russian brass so my only task was to come up with the right load. The task was relatively easy, and didn't take all that long to come up with a load that was surprisingly accurate, at least for me~! I forget what dies I was using at the time.
From my limited experience I'd suggest you get a virgin factory made SAKO round or piece of brass no matter what it may cost and check the length of that cartridge before you do anything else. I've found 6PPC brass lengths are all over the map. There is also a schematic on this site which shows the dimensions of SAKO's cartridge next to what seems to have become an accepted 6 recently.

The Sako brass you had did it have the small flash hole (appx .060) or the larger flash hole (.078). TKS

I have a Sako factory 6PPC and a 22PPC. I’ve always used Sako Brass in them, it’s the easy button but you should be able to trim other brass and it should work just fine. Both are very accurate rifles, congrats on your purchase.

I never checked that and never know that was that variation. What in the world would have caused them to make those variations~????

Reason I asked is because I have virgin Sako brass with both sized flash holes. Previous to this I thought they were made only with the .060 flash hole.
