6mm Hagar

newbe here, looking at a 6mm Hagar for another upper for ar15, thoughts? brass seems hard to find, dies?

I believe its a 6.8spc case necked down. Not sure if shoulder is improved or moved, but that should get you an idea. Supposedly it is very near the limit of case head diameter for ar-15, and is often debated between a 6.5 grendel based case.

I did a quick and dirty measurement on a couple of pieces of fired brass. Not exact by no means.
6Hagar 1.775 oal, 1.415 to shoulder, small rifle primer

6.8 SPC 1.685 oal, 1.300 to shoulder, large rifle primer.

I run a 6 Hagar in a varmint AR and also several 6 AR Turbo 40's. The Hagar is based on the 30 Remington while the 6 AR is based on the 6.5 Grendel. Been using the 6 AR T40's for several years and the Hagar is relatively new. Just came back from SD whacking dogs and while the Hagar is about 100'/sec faster it runs into mag length issues which force you to seat deep even with slotted mags. Use 75/87 vmax's and while the 100' faster is nice I enjoyed my 6 AR's more. Put about 250 rounds thru each and enjoyed the 6 AR more and saw no difference in the "splatter effect" on dogs. I'll use both again. I've been using Hornady 6 Hagar brass which I got several years ago on a seasonal/limited production run. IMO they are both fun, easy cartridges to shoot but I still prefer my 6 AR T40's. Creedmoor Sports might still sell the Hagar uppers and brass? Good Luck, Eric in DL

6 hagar is based on the 30 remington cartridge. Creedmoor sports just had a run of brass made. Creedmoor and keystone accuracy can hook you up with eveything you need
