6mm GT loading tools part deux

So I ordered 50 pieces of Peterson brass, a Forester micrometer seater, and a Redding type S bushing FL seater. Last thing is to pull together a few small items. My question is Dillon makes two 6mm powder funnels. One for PPC and a more standard one. The 6 GT has a brass length of 1. 7ish inches. So I think the standard one is the one I need. Can someone confirm? Thanks!

That's where I would start. You should have plenty of flexibility with powder drop die body height to fine tune. Where is so new and niche, you'll have to try a few things yourself and let others know. The majority of people loading for a 6 GT will be doing so on a single stage, so you may be trail blazing.

Staball 6.5 works really well with the GT, I average 2950 with a 107 smk. My Redding competition powder throw drops it very consistently, it should work for a progressive loader.

Good luck!

The correct answer is to call Dillon to get the answer. They are extremely helpful and will have the information you need. Besides, you might have other questions while you're on the phone...;)

While shooting PRS, I shoot for velocity not barrel preservation. Cooler burning powders are great to care for barrel life but when competing, velocity and consistency are king in PRS. Replace your barrel as needed.

Currently, my 6GT/110 A-TIP burns a hotter load attaining about 3150. My barrel will be replaced at the end of this season.

Enjoy the game!

That has got to be a SPICY load.

Velocity is not everything in PRS. There's a lot to be said for seeing your splash and running a GT that fast might make that more difficult. There's a reason the series has been consistently won in recent years with Dasher and BRA. But if that speed is working for you, carry on.

As a great man once said: Opinions vary and you are entitled to yours. Every man has one or more but that doesn't necessarily make it right. It's just an opinion. And I certainly don't need your permission to use my load or carry on.

It is a 'spicy' load. It was safely worked up to be that way regarding velocity and accuracy. I am not a top tier competitor but I have always pursued techniques and processes different from the accepted norm. I experiment and I am not your lemming kind of guy.

Have a great day!

;)

Velocity is not king in prs. It may be your top priority, but across the field of competitors, especially those at the top, it is not king. This isn't my opinion. It is fact.

I'm interested to at least know what powder and barrel length?

That's insane to me since I pop primers at 3150fps with 108 ELDMs from a 27" 6 creed...

We all know and understand that the cartridge, chamber, throat and bore all are potentially different, yielding different results. This is documented daily in most discussions regarding loads and development vs pressure signs.

Have a great day!

Of course, but that still didn't answer my question any.

It’s barrel to barrel man. My last GT was 23.5”, bare muzzle tuned, and 3150 was no step with H4350.

Exact same reamer and barrel combo gets sticky lift with the exact same lot of powder at 3060 in my friend’s.

For what it’s worth, mine shot minute of mouse nuts at 3050 so that’s where I ran it.
If I were shooting rifle gymnastics, I’d run it 2925 like a BRA.

I think I’m going to make this new one 18” and use N150. Anything over 2850 is good with me.

Thanks. Ya 3050 is still pretty good from a 6 GT and a 24" Still faster than my 6 Creed with a 27" lol.

I'm almost convinced my next build will be a lighter weight 6 GT for a coyote/steel plinker. Thinking a 26" Bartlein #3b 7.5 twist would make a nice balanced packing rifle. Be around 9-10# depending on optic.

I’ve had a bunch of 5 contours, same as a 3B for the most part. They were all 22” so I could thread them.

I think the CRN Hunter is about like a 5 but you can thread it at 26.
