6mm grinch

given a 65 to 70 grain bullets out of a barrel that is cut in length as a 6 mm ppc will tha grinch shoot faster and shoot as good as the ppc?

I'm getting 2950 with a 24" 6mmAR shooting the 75 grain Vmax in front of 28.0 grains of RL15. Being very similar in size (albeit slightly larger) the 6mm Grinch should top that pretty easily.

Looking over the Hodgdon 6mm PPC data it's telling me that my velocity with the staight 6mmAR is right in line with the famous PPC. So I think if you get rifles with similar barrel lengths in 6 PPC and 6mm Grinch I suspect you'll gain some velocity advantage with the latter.....

Now, will the Grinch shoot with the PPC? I have no idea....having shot neither.....but I'd bet ya a dollar that the PPC won't be dethroned by the Grinch anytime soon.....

Have several hundred test rounds down a Grinch and a 6Grendal 12 twist and NO it won't dethrone the PPC. It is at times pretty darn good and then it just gets like a straight BR and is hard to get back in tune. I've only shot these cartridges with 80grain bullets, which in my opinion is the only reason to shoot them, and they don't do what a ppc does, and that is, throw down a little one with some frequency. At least in a 10.5 lb rifle. Greg King had some luck with a heavy, that might help.

did you use a tuner?

anecdotal evidence suggests the Grinch can do well, and a PPC can fall out of tune pretty darn quick. The odds in relation to staying in tune is that with the PPC a wealth of shooters have tried and tested the cartridge over decades and with a great range of different powders and projectiles. You are probably right about not dethroning the PPC but at least for me if I can run with it using a Grinch then I will....(and I will still use the PPC in LV.)
