ppc for 300yd group match

Local range is running a 300yd group match. Will the ppc with faster twist and 80 or 95 grain run with the straight 6br at that range? Or is the 6 Grinch or Grendel a better way.

The 6PPC does quite well shooting groups at 300 yards. It does it with standard 65-68 grain bullets. Check out the 300 yard records on the NBRSA website.

A grendel or Grinch might have a small edge but a ppc with a 12 twist won't be far enough behind it to amount to much. Even a 13.5-14 twist with light bullets will do well. The bc and speed of the grendel with 90-95's is worthwhile at 300 imho but it still will boil down to "don't pull the trigger at the wrong time". Same with the 80's, just not as much...er more so. Accuracy still trumps everything else but if accuracy is equal or very near the same, the better bc will show up. I shoot a straight 6 Grendel in a 12 twist ABC barrel. I think it's a very good combination. It is capable of winning, and has, at 100, but it does seem to shine at 200-300.

At 300 yards conditions play a big role. I love the PPC but if expected conditions include wind 5 or more and/or switching wind I would opt for a BR based cartridge with a bullet having a bc over. 500.
