6MM Grinch on a 308 bolt face

I have a 700 action with a PT&G coned bolt with Sako extractor 308 bolt face. I was wondering if it would reliably extract a Grendel case. Also, what velocity could be expected with 105 gr. bullets. Just looking for something different.

If you look at that thread, I offered to modify. I can modify an M-16 style extractor the small amount needed for the difference between 308 and PPC bolt face, but not a sako.

Although it might work unmodified, i certainly wouldn't trust it for anything other than plinking where if it malfunctions it is no big deal.

If the 308 coned bolt is .705 diameter, I would buy it from you if you want to order the ppc bolt.

Who wants to eat oatmeal every morning for the rest of their life? ;)

It’s a resistance to change. I’ve been eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch for six years straight. I have the right bread and the ratios of peanut butter to jelly worked out perfectly. Hmmmm. Maybe I should start weighing?

I prefer homemade bread, preserves and crunchy peanut butter. It just makes a plain old pb and j... better.

I like apple jelly and crunchy peanut butter on my pb&j
A PPC is Schmuckers and Jiff creamy, on white bread. It serves the purpose well, though. But some people don't know what they're missing because they've been told it's the best thing since, well...sliced bread. ;)

Evidently youve never tried any. Its like a peanut butter candy, with crack mixed in for hooking you
I hear ya but, I'm not eating your nutella. Sorry.
I'm just taking up for the guy that wants to try something different. Isn't the definition of crazy, doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result? Try something different...Be adventurous! IROC racing sucked and that's what traditional BR has become. Experiment a little! How bad can a .070 long ppc be? That's exactly what a Grendel is! If you load to the same pressures, why will it not shoot just as well? I don't buy that .070 longer makes it a loser. If anything, it just makes it where you don't need a 14ft long drop tube to load to the same pressures. Trust me...It ain't bad! PPC shooters have been chasing the magic powder for 40 years that is a touch faster than what they've used. A little more case capacity makes a case work better with a touch slower powders. Same, same. It's not re-inventing the wheel. It's precisely machining that wheel to be perfectly round and smooth. Yessir...the ppc is great but I don't believe it or just about any other 40+ year old design to be the end all, be all, today. Just me?

A 6PPC was shot by virtually every competitor, on every target, at every match in the US and most of the world for 40 years and no one, nobody, could break the record held by a 222....until a 30 Grendel came along and DID IT in short order!
