6mm grendel

Is anyone shooting the 6 mm Grendel in a bolt action rifle?
I see info on AR s but nothing on a bolt action.

I would think a 6br in a bolt gun would be a little easier, the problem is the 473 bolt in an AR. Not much difference in performance, but easier for dies and chambering.

I shoot the 6.5 Grendel in a bolt gun.

Savage 10 bottom bolt release short action
Black Hole Weaponry sporter contour 1:9 twist 20" barrel
Black Hole Weaponry bolt head
Boyd's Pro Varmint stock
Factory Savage bottom metal utilizing the 7.62x39 detachable box mags

Mags hold three rounds, feeds nicely, extracts well, etc.
Accuracy is MOA or better at 100 with factory 123 and 129 grain ammo. I have yet to reload for it.
Makes for a nice, lightweight rifle...but I reach for my 6br repeater in Rem 700 more than this one.

Hope this helps some, though it's not the 6mm.

I have a PacNor 8tw sporter weight chambered in the Grendel. Nice choice for a walking varminter with the 100 gr Sierra HP's and a great WT gun with the 123 gr A-Max. Yes I've done both with it.

See info on 6mm Grinch. I think it's much like 6mm AR both based on Grendel case.

Edit! Best to say all based on PPC, 220 Russian, 7.62x39... quickly becoming a chicken and egg situation...

Larry Feusse has a lot of wood over the fireplace mantel and he took it with a Grendel.
Larry won a lot of wood with his 30 Gorilla, a 6.5 Grendel case necked up to 30 and shoulder blown forward 5 more degrees to 35, but it's not a 6 Grendel like GerryM was asking about.

OK I found the thread on the grinch. That explained the difference,
still what about the grendel in 6mm?
I, seeing guys with a 18 to 20 inch drop tube trying to get enough n133 into the ppc case .
I was thinking that a slightly longer case may cure that problem with the PPC

No Info yet as to a straight 6 grendel

Thanks guys for some information.

I was thinking of the grendel case with the same shoulder angle.

Only just necked down to 6mm neck size would be optional. IE 262 264 etc

Now in a nice sturdy action like the rem 700 or similar benchrest actions

I have a 243 LBC Turbo 40. it's a 6.5 grendel case necked down to 6mm with a shoulder blown forward and out to 40 degrees. Built it on a 722 with a custom PPC bolt built by PTG. Has a SS Shilen ratchet rifle 1 in 8" twist barrel @ 27". Only did barrel break in so far, but everything was bug hole groups. Works well. Expect load development and tuning to be a breeze judging by the break in target.

I was just wondering about the case necked down.
Zero change in the shoulder angle just necked down a simple step to make the case allow a bit more powder then the stock,
ppc case. no change in the shoulder angle or blown forward. { those concepts do look interesting}
I remember the 6/47 Remington from years ago THat was simple also just opening a 222 mag case to 6 mm It worked very very well'
a standard twist ratio of 13.5 to 14 for light bullets in the 60 to 75 gr range.

6.5 grendel on the left, 220 russian on the right. Theres a case called the firewalker. Its basically a 6mm grendel with a 40 degree shoulder.View attachment 993816 View attachment 993817

My 243 LBC T40 looks like the Firewalker, but my 40 degree shoulder is blown forward a bit. Just like the 6 Dasher does to the 6 BR

It's Les Baer's spin off the 6mm AR Turbo 40. Judging from the 'claimed' load data I've read on the 6mm AR Turbo 40, my case should be able to achieve around 2950-3000 fps with a 105gr Berger in my 27" barrel. Haven't chronographed it yet so we'll see...
