6mm Dasher or 6mmAI

I am considering a 6mm Dasher or a 6mm AI and was wondering what type of barrel life I could expect of either. It will be used for informal steel and papaer only. Maybe 200 - 300 rounds a month, give or take. I want to run a 26" barrel in heavy palma. It will not be run too hot, but on occassion it may be. Thanks in advance for the information.

No doubt a Dasher barrel life is far better and the reduction in recoil helps. Larry

200-300 rds a month is a lot of shooting. I would think a 6mmAI would mean a new barrel every 6 months or just a little longer. A Dasher should get you through a full year or maybe a little more.

If you shoot that much, without a doubt go with the dasher. Even if you shot half that I would still choose a dasher. The 6mm Ackley is a great varmint cartridge but that's about it.

I love the 6mm but you gotta look at the brass situation. May want to check out a 6br it may be easier to deal with instead of burning half your barrel life up fireforming

You could also go with a 6 x 47Lapua, this would seem to solve your problem and you don't need to fire form, just neck down the 6.5 x 47 to 6mm that's it.

I know the number of rounds given seems high, but being retired with not much to do allows a trip to the range weekly. I get bored, so I work brass and shoot. However; that does not mean I am good! Thanks fellas for the reply's.
