6mm Dasher Loads

Hi

I am putting together a table for the Dasher, and would like you guys that are shooting the Dasher to send me your loadings.

I have two Dasher rifles, but would like to compile data for this chambering.

I would like Powder type, projectile used, charge weight, barrel length, and velocity if available.

I am currently using 33grains of Reloader 15 behind a 107MK. Not sure on velocity. This is not a hot load in my Dasher also.

Cheers

My Dasher load is 33.0gr RL-15, CCI-450, 105 Berger VLD or 107 SMK, Lapua 6BR brass, with the bullets seated 0.010" back from a hard jam into the rifling. Both run right at 3070 FPS, 31.5" Broughton 5C. Chamber has a 0.272" no-turn neck. I use a Redding Type S neck die with a 0.268" bushing. Use a Redding body die about every 6 reloads. Went almost 15 reloads before I had to anneal the necks.

My fireforming load,using the false shoulder method) is 32.0gr IMR4895, CCI-450, 107 SMK.

Hope that this helps.

Cheers,

32.0 grains VV N140, 105 Lapua naked bullets +10, CCI 450 primers. I also am having great success with 32.6 gr. of RL15 same otherwise-chrono was 2990 fps. The RL15 load last night at 600 yards had 5 shots into 3.55" and 4 of the shots were 1.625",which is great for me. The N140 produced a 5 shot 2.495" group last week. This using a factory stocked,H-S Precision), trued up Remmy with a 26" Lilja barrel-no turn neck, which was chambered by Jerry S. It is a light duty, medium long range prairie dog gun,little varmints watch out) that I am also using to punch paper.

Been fire forming -load and shoot - now with 32.0 grains of RL15 using the Amax jammed.

I have a recent thread with some of this information in it.

Thanks,

Woody

Here is what I worked up so far. No signs of pressure.

33.3Gr Varget
Lapua Brass
CCI-450
Berger 105 VLD Hunting version OAL: Zero
Average speed: 3001 fps

33.0gr Varget
Lapua Brass
Berger 105 VLD Hunting. OAL: Jam .010'
Average Speed: 2968 fps
Consistent ones with this load @ 100 yds.

Bartlein 1:8 26' LV barrel
Panda Action
Shehane Stock

I'm still working on loads. I've worked with some R15, but my Dasher seems to prefer Varget.

Here is my 100 yard load i have shot some great groups with. 33.0gr Varget 95 sierra hpbt set 5thou in lands, federal 205match primer. Groups in the 2's at 100. my rifle is a stiller action Brux 8.5 twist. I have been working with some 105 bergers with some good results. RE15 32.2gr soft set in lands Fed 205M primer 1.717 5 shot group at 500 yards. I am tweaking this load a bit as i had to much vertical. I am going to jump the berger 5 thou and use CCI 450's. I may even bump the powder charge a couple tenths. velocity around 3100. The velocity for the 95 sierras was around 3180 i think? I will double check this evening. Still playing around with other loads, and it seems as if this rifle eats everything decently!! I really love the 6 dasher and think everyone should own one!! Lee

Skeet,

I'm surprised that you got 205s to work. I tried 205Ms in my 32 gr. Varget with a 105 gr. A-max load and they were all Very close to blanking in my Dasher. One did finally blank but without any ill efffects. No other pressure signs or indications otherwise. I bought a couple thou of them and they won't work. This rifle does such strange things with 205Ms and CCI 400s. The 400s are between blanking and having a very deep impression like firing on a once-fired primer. I checked the firing pin to hole clearance and it was very close. .001' uning a guage pin and mic. Once I switched to CCI 450s all of the strange indications went away. Both of the other primers gave decent accuracy but I didn't want to deal with the issues. Now my only problem is that I have 600 450s left to make it through this 1000 yd season. Right now I'm shooting 32.5 gr. of Varget and a 105 A-max lit off by 450s. This load holds vertical better than anything I've owned or shot at 1000 and I'm kicking myself for having waited so long to build one. The rifle is built on a BAT SV dual port with a 28' .237' bore Bartlein chamber with .272' no-turn neck. I epoxied the barrel into a block that I built. Once I get it painted maybe I'll post some pics.

My testings with fed 205M was simply because i didnt have any CCI450 yet. I have some now and will use them exclusively. My extreme spread when way down into the single digits when switching from the fed to the cci primers. I think the CCI450 is the standard primer of choice for the dasher!! Lee

New rifle in Dasher

Fireforming and running in tomorrow... load development next week. Will post results.

Cheers

The load for my Dasher like 33.2gr of RL15,Berger 105 Molly bullets with 450cci primers 10th into lands. At the last 600yard match I won 5frist, 2 seconds. The saying is the gun shoots that way every time but the driver show up sometimes. Remember always start with less powder and slowly work up, all guns are different. BE safe.

Ok..

Been a little rushed getting rifle ready for 500m Fly comp this weekend. New rifle... load development was 14 rounds.

Weather was horrible... very windy. Only shot at 100m.

Ladder test 32.2-33.4 grains of RE-15. No pressue issues through the range. 33.4, primer still rounded like first seated.

I do not recommend going up into the 33+ grains of RE-15 if just starting out. My two dasher previously maxed out way before here, one at 32.8 the other 32.6.

Powder- RE-15
Primer- CCI 450
Case- Lapua
Projectile- Australian Made 103VLD. The same as or very close to the Spencer. Moly'd
Seating depth 20thou in. used slip case to get soft seat.. very soft. Could push projectile in by hand, but it gives me the very minimal length to lands.

Chrony.. not enough time before comp... will post after when I get a chance.

Load looks like 33grains flat... very generic....

With bugger all pressure sign.... none... I may be down on velocity.... time will tell.

Rifle 0.272' no turn, Lilja 3 groove 1:8, Jewell, March 10-60, Jewell, Kelbly Klub. Picture above.

5 shot at 33grains resulted in overall group of 0.45'ish... three shot into low 1's. No flags... lots of wind.

Cheers

I am using fed 205M primers and with 32gr of varget i am getting really consistent velo numbers. My last five shot string went like this. 2933 2933 2930 2938 2935 with not problems at all with the primers being altered. Most will say fed 205 are to soft, but i dont see that at all in my rifle. Lee

Here is my best load.

Brass = Lapua (COW Fire formed)
Primer = CCI 450
Powder = 32gr RL15
Bullet = Berger 95gr VLD
Seating = .010 from lands
Velocity = 3201
Barrel = Kreiger Custom Octagon 1:10 twist

Tight chamber of .267 and all brass is trimmed, turned, primer pockets uniformed, flash holes uniformed and case months cleaned.
