6mm dasher hydraulic forming dies, whideen or hornady?

i have a 6mm dasher rifle on order. .269 neck. arrives this spring i hope. im putting together parts and reloading tools.

i have read through the various forums and such, i know there are several ways to form 6mm dasher from 6mm br, COW, false shoulder etc. at this time, i would prefer to order a hydraulic forming die. i have 200 virgin lappua 6mm br cases waiting.

so, if i am to order a custom hydraulic die from either hornady or whidden, does anyone have a recommendation? or comments about my chosen method as opposed to the others?

thanks for any info.

Or, check with DJ's brass service. He also works with Whidden & Hornady forming equipment and has gotten some good reviews here on his quality of work. Just in case the promised arrival of 6dasher brass doesn't materialize.

I have a Hornady Dasher forming die & a Whidden for my .284 improved. The Whidden seems like a nicer unit & was a little cheaper if I recall. (I don't know if the Whidden Dasher die would be similar to my Hornady but, being that it's 7mm vs. 6mm, the Whidden def. seems more robust).

I've tried forming cases via all of the methods you mention above. I turn case necks like you will be needing to do. Personally, now I like turning the necks past what will become the new neck/shoulder junction, hydraulically forming them & then I still do a mild load, jam/shoot on the first firing (I have a couple Dasher barrels I use mainly for fireforming, cut with my same reamer.).

COW works great too, but I live in the city & worried about scaring the neighbors if I needed to form more than a couple cases.

I have tried them all.

Recently, I have had custom dies made to my specs by a competent ISO manufacturing company. After my service, and when you get them back (less than a week turnaround) , you can use your full match load and go shoot a match with confidence as they are over just as accurate as blown out brass proven by many top ranked shooters.

The main issue is to be sure they are all the same measurement and a nice fit when you close your bolt.

thanks for the replies.

i am aware of DJ's service and will consider it. They have a pretty good rep. But like many i like to do all the work myself.
