6mm Dasher Dies?

For those reloading for the 6mm Dasher - which dies are you using?

I know that I can ge a set of Redding S-Type dies, but I would really like a set of Competition Bushing dies for this caliber. (Thanks Jim) Redding says NO.

Wilson is an option, but I would rather use my Forster press.

Need some guidance please - what are you using?

Hi there...I am in the same boat just building a new dasher.....I think I will be going with a forster full length and micro seater and a wilson neck.....maybe other help can offer better ideas. Also there are some gunsmiths who will ream dies...don't know if this helps but other help will be appreciated by me as well....best wishes

George,

Whata you mean Redding says no?? I found my receipt for the dies yesterday while cleaning my shop ;D...I paid $255 for the set...

I'm currently using a Redding body bump die to resize and bump the shoulder, then using a Redding S type bushing neck die to size neck and knock out primer(remove the expander ball). I seat bullet with a Foster Ultra Comp. Bullet seater. These all work perfectly with my Foster press..

Hmmm... surprised Redding was so negative. You might want to give http://www.harrellsprec.com/ a call ((540) 380-2683) or http://www.neiljones.com/ ((814) 763-2769) to inquire about a custom sizing die.

I believe either can work off of your fired brass or your chamber reamer specs. You'll have to ask if they can make a die to work with Redding bushing s or not. I know Neil will make you a die with his own bushings.

Here is my inquiry:
"Subject 6mm Dasher

Message I am building a 6mm Dasher and would like to have a die set for it from Redding. I especially would like the Competition Bushing Die set.

Is this set available in the caliber (6mm Dasher) and if so what is the cost? "

Their repsonse was this would be a custom die set and "no not available".

What more can I say. I was wanting the Competiton neck bushing die set as it has the sliding sleeve that holds the case in alignment when it sizes the neck of the case.

rcw3,

Got Dad's dies in today..thanks for the fast shipping ....

George,

www.6mmar.com slipped my mind in the hunt for the dies...great guy to deal with as well..

I bought both the Neck and FL S-Type dies and have been very happy. I seat with a 6mm Wilson blank with my reamer used.

I have a Redding Type 'S' F/L bushing die, and a Forster Ultra seater. Works well, doesn't cost the farm.

I bought the Redding Type "S" sizer die from Redding direct, and it works fine. But, when you buy from Redding, they charge full retail price. That one die was $149. I found a Competition Seater at Bruno's for $85. Good deal.

Now, I'm thinking maybe I shoulda sent two fired cases to Harrels and had a F/L bushing sizer made for $70. I like the Harrels; their 6BR and 30BR sizers work fine for me.

BTW, Redding will want your reamer print before they supply the die. They do not keep them in stock.

If the Redding Comp Bushing die set is what you desire; purchase a set in 6 ppc or 6 br and have your smith rechamber the sliding sleeves with a Dasher reamer and polish to get proper fit. You will still need a full length sizer.

This is what I have been using for over ten years with good success.
