6mm Creedmore clip

I was thinking about purchasing a new Ruger American Predator rifle in 6mm Creedmore when I noticed that it used a longer magazine (rather then a a flat one) on the Ruger website. So I called Ruger to ask about it and they informed me that all 6mm Creedmore Predator rifles come with the longer magazine. Since I've never had or used a bolt action rifle with a magazine that sticks out that far, I was wondering if it caused any unusual problems when is used in the field ?

When you say clip, do you actually mean magazine? Or do you mean something else?

Ruger American Predators are generaly available with either the flush fit rotary mag or the extended AI mag. But, it looks like, on the Ruger website, that the 6 Creed is only available with the AI mag. I've had the flush rotary (in 6.5) so I don't have experience with it in AI. Wish I did - I'd have bought the AI version if I'd known it was available at the time.

I don't think the AI mag will be that big of an issue but if you can find one with the rotary magazine I would get that one for the simple fact you can actually take the stock off with ease if you need to. The Predator models with the AI mags have the rear action screw hidden underneath the magazine release and it is a pain to remove the mag release to get to the action screw and then to put it all back together again holding your mouth just right to get the spring and pin lined up. I have done a couple and each time I have ended up using bad words. They have all been nice shooters for the money though.

Or just find a take off stock with a rotary magazine. You'll probably want to upgrade the stock anyway. I have a Boyd's stock on my Ruger American predator with a rotary mag. Love it!

I would pick the ai mag one.. the rotary one has been a weak link in the ruger predator.. is the ai version a 5 round or 10 round.. if its a 10 round mag you could always put a five round mag in its place and shorten it up quiet a bit..
