6mm creedmoor with 80gr nosler?

Quick question for those willing to advise.

What powder(s) have produced the better velocities for this setup. I wondering what I might be overlooking that is not in a reloading book.
This will be for hunting purposes but accuracy is always fun too. 6mm creedmoor with 80gr noslers. Also curious which vihtavuori powders should give the best velocity.

Thanks in advance
Dale

Best extreme spreads and velocity Varget and H4895. VV N140 and Reloader 15 good powders as well.

Haven't shot any 80's but the 70gr Nosler BT's and RL16 stacks them in to a tiny little clusters of holes.

RL16 and H4350 are both excellent temp stable powders that just flat work in the 6 Creedmoor.

There was only 7-9 rounds down the barrel when this group was shot with my 6 Creed.

Shewww. What twist is your rifle ?

My 6CM is built on a trued Rem 700 with Proof Research 9tw 20in CF wrapped barrel.

That is almost the same setup I’m working on. It’s for a good friend of mine and for coyotes and critters. The rifle I’m working on is a rem700 20” Bartlein 8twist carbon wrapped.
The forth shot read 3385 with H4350. I’m just breaking in the rifle and was hoping to try some different powders when finished. I’ve never owned or messed with the creedmoor much.
Seem like StaBall might jump the velocity up some.
I agree with RL16 and H4350 being plain simple. It will be hard to move from those but I like to explore a little

I withdraw my powder recommendations above as my thought was directed at a longer barrel 24 or 26 inch. I've not had good extreme spreads with Varget or N140 in short barrels. I presume they're just a bit slow for 20 inch or less barrels. I'd stick with a faster burning powder like N530 or H-4895. You may have great ES one day and lousy the next, inconsistent is what I found.

H4350 and RL16 always seem to produce good everything so it's hard to stray away from either of those in the Creedmoor's.

If I was looking for more velocity I would give RL17 a try. If you haven't worked with RL17 much it isn't without its quirks the biggest one being it tends to not show much if the way of pressure then all of a sudden a lot of pressure so maybe keep that in consideration. I use it in my 22-250 and it produces great velocity. Also, it's not as temp stable as H4350 or RL16 but then again few powders are.

H4350 & RL17 have worked very well in my two 6CM's, but they both have 26" barrels. I've also used a bit of VV-N555 but with heavier pills.. About 42.5 grains of RL17 & Sierra 95TMK's are virtual laser beams. Your Noslers would be as well I'd think. 100 to 200 zero is only .2 higher on the dial with the 95's.

Just a word of caution… no matter what powder/s you work with or decide to go with if that barrel is still new it ll continue to gain velocity for 100-150 rounds.

I can’t tell you how many guys, myself included when I was younger/less experienced, chase their load development too soon and then after a 100-150 rounds wonder why they re carefully developed loads now have sticky bolt lift, deep ejector marks, etc…..!!

It has sped up and now your loads are too warm or even hot!!

I'm using the IMR 8208XBR in my 6 Creedmoor with the #1515 Sierra bullets with good results.
