6mm Creedmoor Varmint loads?

I'm just finishing up a 6mm Creedmoor build and looking for varmint loads. I have data for the 105g-115g loads. I looking for data to work up with the 70g-90g for Wyoming PD loads this summer. I'm thinking of using 6XC data and working from there, but I would prefer to use tried loads. Am I on the right track by using the 6Xc for a starting point?

I believe the 6mm Creedmoor is just a tad smaller than a .243

I would back down some .243 loads and start there.

I`m tossing either a 6mm or 22 Creedmoor around for a calling gun to shoot coyotes.

Good luck with your project, keep us informed.

Phil.

OK my 6mm Creedmoor (6.5 Creedmoor brass necked down to 6mm)brass has the exact same capacity as my 243 Lapua brass. There is as much variability within the brass of each as there is between the two.
Your brass may be different.

I haven`t made the jump yet to build one,but i decided to use the Creedmoor case because of the 30* shoulder...

Sorry i can`t comment on the case capacity, other than what i mentioned above, which is info i gleaned from the internet.

Phil.

If you get the hankering to blast some "long range" P.D's, you might want to take some of your actual heavier match loads as they are so much more "wind friendly" in a place where there usually is a lot of it. Just be sure of your backstop or lack thereof. Run the bullet comparison on a ballistic program. For light weight - look at the 95 V-Max!

Whoops! Re-read the post. The 95 V-Max I recommended was intended for a 6.5 - not 6mm. The 58 V-max is what I intended to say.... Sorry.

I would shoot 58g if somebody else paid for the barrels and when Wyoming has a windless day...I run 85g Sierras in my 6.5 CMR, this bullet has more of a "lift factor" impact than the V-Maxs. I tried the 95g VMaxs in my 6.5CMR for a couple of years before switching. So far, it is hard to beat Berger's Varmint on the lift factor as long as they stay in a normal twisted barrel. It is fun to download a little below vaporizing where 8 out of 10 rds impact with a white tail following. I'm set up to load 88g Berger FB Varmint, just looking for tested loads. It is too easy to run 400 rounds w/ different powders, bullets, primers, seating depths on and on...to finally find a couple of laser loads. Thanks for the help and comments.

If you have a fast 22cal you should try the 62gr eld-vt, if it's 243 or 6mm try the 80gr eld-vt my buddy has a confirmed kill on a coyote at 983yds and it stoned him dead for prairie dogs I'd even look at the light vmax and the blitzkings they will be quite explosive even some of the speer gold dots are comically explosive to the extent you'll see 20ft acrobatics aerial flight. They claim the creedmoor w the 55blitzking on the warm side can see 4000fps. Have fun guys my buddy said he's never heard me laugh so loud. I said we'll the best way for me to describe it, it's like watching Saturday morning cartoons Willey e coyote always blowing himself up and that's the most politically correct way to describe it I don't care who you are seeing things taking flight and body parts taking a different flight path. If you want a long range wind cutter the bc over .50 numbers on the new 6mm 90gr gamechangers we are getting ready to work up a longer range load for our thermal rigs there's a load that says I should be able to get it up to 3300fps which is where they load the factory load of the hornady 80gr eld-vt with a bc of .41 so the sierras should cut wind much better. Rick has killed one at 983yds so the Sierra is got big shoes to fill. Fingers crossed they shoot well, been reading on another forum guys were cussing that bullet saying it didn't shoot groups it sprayed them. Me n Rick both have a 7.5" twist so that's not gonna hurt as both of those bullets are much longer than other bullets of the same gr weight as these are both over an inch because of the large air cavity behind the polymer tip for the explosiveness have fun and keep pulling that trigger happy 2026

That’s interesting. I did some research on the 80 Gr ELD VT and found a lot more negative than positive comments on its accuracy and performance. I’m trying to decide on an 80ish grain bullet to use in a 6XC for longer range prairie dogs. I’m glad it’s working out for you. I might go ahead and order a hundred to test.
