6mm Creedmoor Load Question

Nice groups there. What is your take on the Alpha brass? Have you compared it with others? Is decreased capacity an issue?
Very good brass, have only compared it to Hornady brass, runout is virtually the same with either brass, have to drop your charge about .8grs to get same velocity as Hornady.

Thanks for the reply. So, not a velocity penalty, just a lower charge? Are you using the SRP version?

That is what I am leaning towards, seems like the best option out there, Alpha SRP. Seems like all plusses with that brass (other than the price difference which I don't care that much about). I am just concerned about giving up velocity.

If you don't push the LRP they'll last a long time, I have the LRP version. Running around 40.4grs H4350 in my 6 creed, very accurate.

send that Rem bolt to Greg Tannell and it will be as good as a Bat,Stolle Panda or whatever on the primer cratering deal,,

Greg just put a bushing in my Rem 700 bolt and turned the firing pin. Very professional job and no more cratered primers. His prices are very reasonable but be prepared to wait. He is swamped.

I'm starting initial load development for a 6mm Creedmoor. I've looked at several forums and posts to find load data. I'm comparing info for 6mm Creedmoor, 6XC and 6x47 to find a starting point.

Most of load data I've found for the 6mm Creedmoor suggests H4350 in 41+ grains for the Berger 105's.

My initial loads were 39.6 and 39.8 H4350 for the Berger 105's (VLD hunting) and Amax 105's. I'm using BR2 primers. I did not have a chrono to get velocity. I'm seeing moderate signs of flattened primers and swirl marks on the primers. No sticky bolt.

Am I overpressure already, or is this still a conservative load? I have not checked to see if the spent cases have loose primer pockets, but that's my next step.

Bullets seated at 20 thousands off the lands, was getting approx. .3-.5 groups at 100 on the initial break in.

I know this is a way old post but I shot the Hornady 105 HPBT for 1st time yesterday, 40 gr H4350 at .025 seating depth, BR2 primers ( all crater slightly in my Shilen barreled Savage) got me 3000 fps at 38 degrees with an excellent group, actually all groups except 40.8-41 were great.

Bigdaddy405, realize your post is at 3 mths old but what length of barrel was the 40 gr load of H4350 getting you 3000 fps?

Considering doing a 22-24" 6 CM and would like to get 2900-2950 fps with a 105 grain bullet without loading hot. Thanks

Been using 7828 with results at least as good as H4831. Had been using IMR4451 but wanted to go to a slower/cooler powder so tried the above and RL19 with good results under Hornady 108’s
