6mm bullets and 5r rifling?

Well hopefully I have solved my issues. I shot a couple of 1/2" groups at 200m today with a couple of different loads. Now I'll brew up some more ammo with those loads and go back to confirm. Took bloody long enough lol.
Im shooting 105 hybrids over either 36.3 gr of 8208XBR , or 40.5 gr of H4350. 210M primers. Norma brass. No signs of pressure at all.
I've gone off the hbn altogether. Back to .002 neck tension as well. Hopefully it's repeatable and I can move on to some longer range testing.

I have 3 6XC's 2 Bartlein 5R and one Kreiger 4 Groove, all shoot 1/4 or less. Last group was .163 not bad for a target rifle. Shoot a 16X cleen at Cadillac with my Bartlein, I personally think that they are the greatest thing ever made.

Have you noticed any fouling differences between your kreiger non 5r, and your bartlein 5r?

MT6XC, by all means I have found a tremendous difference, the 5R barrels hardly copper foul at all, where is the 4 grove tends to foul considerably. I have found that not to clean hi per clean, but I do soak in sweets until the copper disappears, at that point I dry patch and let it go at that . The grouping appears to settle very quickly using that method. I got to tell you the Bartlein 5R barrels are the greatest thing that I have encountered in over 30 years of competition.

Ryan, if you don't mind, what is the barrel length and velocity with the 36.3 grains of 8208XBR?
I'm at 35.02 grains & CCI 200s pushing 105 AMAx hBN bullets out of a 28" barrel at 3031 MV. And I have very slightly flattened primers.

Interesting that you experienced that, Paul. I find that Brux, Krieger and Bartlein barrels all foul and clean similarly. My Bartlein barrels in calibers .30 and 6mm are all 5R. The others are conventional. In fact, the only difference between the three makers is that Brux and Krieger barrels are slightly more consistent from barrel to barrel than Bartlein. Bartleins are just as accurate but each barrel is somewhat a new load development whereas the other two only need minor tweaking of the previous load. That's just what I've found.

Steve, I have Bartlein and Kreiger, Only Bartlein's are 5r, they foul much less than the conventional rifling. The explanation may be that I use Tungsten Di sulfide and this may cause some difference in the way that the barrels foul, I actually believe that this does drastically reduce overall fouling, that's why I use it. My friend who shoots 600 regularly at Mid Range uses TD and only cleans once every 500 or 600 rounds. That's all I know.

Conceptually, they should foul less. The groove "corner" is greater than 90° and should seal better and make them easier to clean. I just haven't see much difference. I shoot naked bullets and clean with a heavily soaked Parker-Hale type jag. Maybe the cylindrical shape helps. :-\

I don't know why John doesen't like 5R in 6MM, I have 2 they shoot great. Recently I shot a 600-34 with one of my 6XC's that sports a Bartlein 5R 236-243 with 8 twist, using Berger 105 Hybrids.

Nomad I'll check my book tonight for velocities. Personally I'm beginning to wonder if my .237 bore should have been .236 instead for the hybrids.

I've got a 6SLR in 5R, 8 twist, .237 bore coming. I plan on shooting hBN coated 105 AMax bullets in it. And maybe 105 Hybrids. I hope the .237 bore won't be a problem for either bullet.

I shoot 105 Hybrids in a .237" Bartlein 5R with excellent results and no problems. My Brux barrels are .236" and work fine, too.

I have both .236 bore and .237 bores that I shoot in 6MM. Honestly I cannot tell the difference. They both shoot very well, I'll take either that is available when I need a barrel.

What kinda seating are you guys that have it working using out of curiosity? Some say jammed .015 and others say .020 off.

Vld's in hard, Hybrids 20 off, both shoot very well for me at that. Vld's have always performed well, but I never stop worrying about seating depth as the throat wears.
