6mm bullet pointing

I have shot there and I know a bunch of the regulars. If they do it again, I would highly recommend the Benchrest School that they hold in the Spring. I went to the first one and it was a great learning experience and a lot of fun. I just shoot F-Class at this point and they don't hold prone matches there anymore. They do offer prone, F-Class and Benchrest at Reade Range near Tyrone. I shot there a couple of times this year. A tough range but a nice place and very good people. In fact, that is John Hoover's home club so you could go talk to him about bullet pointing and meplat trimming at a match. Also Mark King is selling the JB Comparators through his shop and he takes a shop trailer to the Williamsport matches. JB is John Buhay who also shoots at Williamsport.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!!? There's a 1k range in Tyrone? Where can I get some more info on that? I do all my groundhog hunting in Clearfield (right down the road from Tyrone)... I could go to a match in the morning, then go shoot some g-hogs in the evenings... sounds like a perfect day!

I went to last year's BR school, and had a great time. Ted Morgan was my instructor for that. (awesome guy!)

Didn't realize JB was 'John Buhay' ... I never met the guy, but my gunsmith (Jack Lyons) claims that Buhay is the only guy to ever figure out the wind in Williamsport....

Good stuff Tony! I learned a lot in our discussion. I thank you for taking the time to type this stuff up. Hopefully we'll run into each other this year at one of these ranges... I will definitely be checking into Reade Range.

Tony, Thats where i shoot, Reade it's about 70 miles from home. I plan to go to Williamsport this year also.....jim

Jim. I've thought about doing some BR matches but my schedule never seems to work. I have a 284 Shehane barrel with a muzzle brake that makes one of my F-Class guns 17 pounds but I haven't been able to find the time to shoot it in BR. I did shoot some BR at Quantico with the F-Class guns for testing mostly. F-Class guns recoil too much to shoot a fast string, but the 284 with a brake feels like my 6mmBR without one so it should be fine.
Good luck next season.

I might do a couple of the F-Class 1000 Yard this year. I did some testing with a 7mmSAUM there this year. It can be very challenging when the wind is up.

Walt and Tony, I will be there on all the BR. matches and let me know what F class you can make....Happy Holidays......jim

Does anyone have the contact info for John Buhay? I need the comparator pieces for my SSS bullet comparator in .30 cal.
Thanks,
Lloyd
