6mm br variations

Jon,
Its the same size of brass. It can be bought in either the "Norma" name or made and sold by "Lapua." The prices aren't that far apart, but Noma brass is softer than is Lapua brass that most people, including me, use. I can atest to Lapua brass lasting a very long time if you take care of it and don't have to bump the shoulder all that much. In fact, I have one set (35 pieces) of Lapua brass that I still use for practice and it's on it's 47th reload after 2.5 years of use. Thats shooting mostly VVN133 powder. Hope that helps.

I have seen reamers for sale that specifically are called 6mmbr Lapua and was wondering how this was different from a 6mm br Norma reamer? Also does anyone have any suggestions for freebore to use the Berger 105 hybrids?

Thanks

Jon

the Lapua case is the factory standard for 6mmBR Norma, there is no 6mm Lapua..

I think you where trying to say that Norma Standardized the 6BR case and Lapua Makes brass 6BR cases as well.

(A slight Variation of the 6BR Remington case)

Jon:

There is alot of diffrent specs out there for reamer's. Seems like the sky is the limit these days as everyone has there own idea of what the best is. It makes it confusing sometimes if you are new to a specific case or never wildcatted a cartridge.
My personal opinion is to try and match the reamer close to the dies you plan to use. But that is just me.

Your question about freebore is a good one and I would suggest a .90 to .104 freebore for the hybrids. My reamer is a .104 and is kinda long for the 105 VLD's and always thought a .90 would work better for me. The Hybrid should follow suit with the VLD. Or at least be close enough for you to be happy with your selection.
Maybe one of the other guys can chime in that has taken some good measurments.

Best of luck to you

I have .104 Freebore in my BRX and jump the hybrids .020 with great results. Being pushed with 31.2 grains of VV N540. YRMV so work up the load gradually, but it is a mild load compared to some. Good Luck.

I just got my info from the Lapua site..

6 mm BR Norma

Without exaggerating, Lapua’s 6mm BR case is absolutely the best case in its class. The standard that all other cases are compared to.
