A 243. is a great round, highly accurate, light recoil for young and women or anybody for that matter, Especially in your rifles configuration. If your just looking for a reason to build a gun then that's one thing, but a 243 it a outstanding round, period.
Shoot out the barrel then make a change. If money's a little tight, you don't need brass that's a $100 a box. Check this out: http://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/243win/. I think i'd build a 243 before a 6.5x284. 8)

If extreme accuracy is your goal, then choose the 6 BR, without a doubt. I still have 2 rifles chambered in .243 Win, and they are fine for their intended use. (whitetail and groundhogs) But when their throats erode too much, the new barrels WON'T be chambered in .243 Win.

Build a 6br its a joy to shoot. Little recoil, less powder, easy to work up a load, barrels last forever. Its just a fun gun to shoot. 100 to 600 its an animal you will be happy

another consideration: chamber the current .243 barrel for the .243 ackley. if the gun is really accurate now, the ackley conversion should be so also, plus you can get more speed and many say barrel life for the ackley is significantly longer than the .243. fireform current brass and buy ackley dies...less expensive than going the 6br route. did this with a .243 12 twist pd gun and it really one holes with 80 gr bergers and fowlers.

More powder, more flame, Er, eh, how ????

I have a BRX and they are more time consuming vs the Dasher.

I have a few rifles when I re-barrel them, I believe Dasher barrels will go on them, strictly for the simplicity. I will have a fast twist and a slow twist. This will cover me in all areas.

I have 2 6brxs how is the dasher less time consumeing than brx? ( never had a dasher)

Flouncer: the .243 is known to burn barrels early while ackleys are felt to do less, perhaps because of what has bee referred to as "the turbulence point". i have a vague understanding of this concept but there is very little written discussing t.p. the idea has something to do with the "funneling" of the burning powder glob and heat by the case shoulder into a point that is OUTSIDE the neck in a .243, but inside the ackley. someone more knowledgeable in internal ballistics could enlighten us. not sure if anybody has done a side by side shooting of a .243 and .243 ackley to asses borescoped damage. ackleys also need less trimming and in my .223 ackley, i rarely need to size the cases. all in all, i'd vote on the 6mmbr for all the above reasons.
