6mm BR on long action.

I’ve got an itch for a 6BR or a 6 Dasher.
I have an extra custom long action that I never built into anything with the correct bolt face.
Is there any reason not to use a long action other than it’s not needed? It is a repeater action, but I single feed most of the time.
I hate to drop the coin for another short if I don’t have to.
Thanks.

I have a Criterion 6BR 28” prefit on a Remington LA. Don’t know if it will feed or not . Never tried it but put a Score High BR follower in it and it works perfect. I use it as a single shot anyway. Shoots good and that’s all I care about.

Back when Savage only made long actions I had one of their varmints models in 223 in the sigle shot version and the longer port just made it that much easier to manipulate a cartridge into the chamber. FWIW that rifle was easily the most accurate factory rifle I ever owned. I think the model designation was 112 BVSS-S.

Guy in our club built a 6BR on a long action Savage, 116 I think. Seems to shoot really well for him with 105 and 107gr bullets. We even have a few running the Axis actions and even those do pretty darn good, for what we shoot.

Bought a “repeater“ that was built on a long action. It didn’t feed consistent, despite what the prev owner said. Ended up keeping the barrel and sold the stock and action. Go with a short action if you want a repeater…
