6mm br norma bushing size?

Looking for a little help from the experts. I'm having my Sako A2 rebarrelled to a 6mm br, with a Maclennan 1 in 12 twist. The reamer is .269. I plan to shoot 65 to 87 gr bullets. I'm in the process of ordering dies and neck sizer with bushings, what size bushings do I need in order to get the proper neck tension and should I order more than one bushing. One other question in regards to dies, I'm thinking along the lines of the Redding competition but not the micrometer full and neck size. I beleive they sell a set with the full length and neck size bushing dies with the micrometer bullet seater,132.00 as compared to 200.00 for the full micrometer set). Do you think this would be the way to go as this will not be a full blown bench gun, more for vermin and paper punching. Thanks for any input. Bye the way I live in Calgry Alberts Canada. pretty hard to find dies and bushings up hear, any more ideas. Bye for now.

Gary,

I shoot a .269 neck and have three bushings that I use.
.264
.265
.266
I single load all rounds so am not concerned with bullet movement due to recoil. I also seat into the lands, and am careful not to try and eject a loaded round. Nothing worse than pulling a bullet with the lands and dumping powder in the action.
If I had to recommend only one bushing it would be the .265. If two, start with the .266 and keep the .265 in reserve. I honestly rarely ever use the .264.
The dies you mentioned will work fine. Another option would be to buy a Forrester micrometer seater for less than $60 which is MUCH cheaper than the Redding, and works exactly the same.
Hope this helps.

If you can manage to borrow some dies and wait a little, I would advise you to order a custom bushing type FL die from Harrell's Precision and have a blank 6mm Wilson seater chambered with the same reamer as your barrel. The FL die will require a couple of fired cases. I like to make sure that they have been fired at least a couple of times with a stiff load.)

Chamber reamers vary, and a couple of friends who bought off the shelf dies for 6BR found that their dies were not sizing the base of the case, within the limits of a .001 to .002 shoulder bump, and that their case shoulders were being sized more than needed. FL dies from Harrell's solved their problems.

I might add that I suggested that they go that way in the first place but....I might also point out that their experiences are a good example of why one should not set a FL die by bolt feel. If they had adjusted the off the shelf die that way, the shoulder would have been pushed back too far, and with no way to measure it, several firings and sizings could have led to a head separation. Get a gage. Harrell's furnishes one with each die.

Where I can buy a Forrester Die?
Thanks in advance.

Any further results/range reports with the loads listed here for the 105gn?

Ive been shooting the 105gn Amax fairly accurately with IMR-4350 at 40gn.
but, I'm wanting to get away from the 4350 because of temperature sensitivity.

Ive been suggested to try Retumbo or H1000. I'm leaning more towards H-1000 now because from what I hear the Retumbo is more likely to be a compressed load at the 48.1 grains Ive been suggested to use.

My 6BR chambers are all .269" neck diameters, since the blue box Lapua came on the market. Before that they were .272" with the gold cardboard box, that had slightly thicker neck walls. Like others, I am also using the .265" bushing, but .264" and .266" are also available.

Biga: If you're going to go with a Forster seater (my favorite) consider the Ultra Micrometer Seater at $72, page 52 in Sinclairs 2012-B catalog. The micrometer top ( .025" of adjustment with each 360 turn) really makes it easy and quick when seating different bullets. I have the settings recorded for each bullet & can change in an instant.
