6mm BR load advice for 68gr FB

Hello, I'm new to the forum and the 6mm BR. I just had a cooper varminter re-barreled in 6mm BR 12 twist. I'm looking to shoot Berger 68gr FB bullets inside of 200yr mostly just looking to see how small of a group I can shoot. Would anyone be willing to share some Pet loads for this bullet? Also in you experience does this bullet like to be jumped or jammed?

VV133 Your gun will tell you how much. Start jammed hard then back out .003 at a time until you hit a sweet spot.

Generally, for situations like this, I do a powder charge weight test (using .3 gr. increments)with the bullet seated about .008 into the rifling. I favor the method for finding touch that Alex Wheeler demonstrates on a video on his web site. After I have the best charge weight, I investigate different seating depths, making moves of .002. This method has worked for me for many years.

I shot this bullet quite a bit last year in the PPC, and it liked to be .003 to .009 off the lands for me. I didn't try into the lands with it. N133 or N135 should work in the larger BR case.

If you have a arbor press & dies, take it to the range with you. Load the bullets long where they're touching the lands or slightly into the lands. Then fire 3 to 5 rounds, whatever you would normally use and check the group. Then start seating the bullet in .003 increments and you will be able to see on the target which grouping is showing the best. A little more fine tuning and you'll be set.

If you can find some AR-Comp give it a try. Works great in my 6BR with the 64-68 gr bullets. N-135 is also a great candidate. With AR-Comp I would start around 28.5 grs and work up. I feel somewhere around 31 will do you good. The CCI 450 primer works good in mine with this powder. The bullet I'm using is the 64 gr Stinger just lightly on the lands.

I know it's not the bullet you mentioned, but I am shooting 58gr. V-Max in my 12 twist 6br. I tried several different powders with no real success but when I tried Varget, it really shot some small, consistent and very repeatable groups.

It may be worth a try for you.

I'm about to give this same combination a try again. 6bra 12tw. Weird thing I saw this thread.
I agree with all the above post's. 133 and 135 have worked in a 13.5 bbl I had. It was short though, and vI ended up over 31g of charge.
I really didn't like pushing that much pressure. So I'm going try a longer bbl this time. Same bullet the OP mentioned.

That's got my attention,vI got 1000 of those bullets, and some 15.5. wonder how that might compare in a 12 twist?

I agree with many here on N-135 being a good choice for bullets in this weight. I also find starting at .010" into the lands for weight of charge development. Then when best group is found, I work back out of the lands .002" at a time. Usually somewhere from .003" to .008" into the lands is where I find my best.

I have a better powder choice for bullets 62 grains and less, H-332, and can do better than N-135 in some guns with the 68 and 70 grain bullets. But in barrels with 1-10 twist anything heavier than that the 135 is my go to up to 85 grains.

10 to 8 twist with anything heavier than 85 grains is when I turn to Varget! These are my 6BR load development choices, and have proven to be winning combinations competing in group and score, making the 6BR all it can be in my Savage custom rifles!

I will give it a try in my rifle, although i have some 55 gr. nosler ballistic tips.

Small groups abound:
65-68g
H335, Rem 7 1/2
3650 fps on 24" barrel
Barrel life is incredible to say the least.

55g Nosler ballistic tips have a better bc than it's 22 counterpart.
AA2230. Rem 7 1/2 Primer. H335 works also
3900 fps, groups so small they are hard to measure.
Harrell's dies to match your chamber.
Hard to believe the super flat trajectory of this load

Great bullet. The 70 gr Varmagedon shoots great in my 6 ppc usa sako with H-322

I might have already replied to this but one more time won’t hurt.

My N135 load runs 3350 from a 20” barrel and it’s a long way from max. It’s knocking on 1,000 rounds and still shooting 0s for 3 shots and low .1s for 5 shots. It has never been hot, doesn’t foul and I expect it to last several thousand at that rate.
