6mm ARC?

Seems to me 6mm ARC is just coming into it's own, given the relatively short time on the market. These days brass seems relatively available with Hornady Starline & now Alpha brass to choose from.

Alpha seems to be the new & premium offering these days. What are initial experiences with Alpha 6mm ARC brass looking like?
Agreed. The 6mmARC almost died because of lack of quality brass. Alpha's new offering might change that.. Hopefully Lapua will follow.

I sold all of my 6BR stuff to move to the ARC in a bolt gun because it's just as accurate and far more efficient. Essentially same performance with 10% less powder. Restarting my "long neck" ARC project, made from Grendel specifically for bolt guns only and never having to trim necks with a COAL of 1.575 (6x40mm). The long neck with a long freebore will allow seating up to 108gr bullets above the neck shoulder junction.

Note the attached print shows Grendel headspace. Moving the shoulder back .027 to ARC gives up very little powder capacity while resulting in a longer neck.

While I like the ARC for what I do. I feel for the BR game the the 6mm BR would have the advantage of compatibility with Varget.

Just read a article from another forum stating problems with Lapua brass , just above case head.
Don't know if it was his resizing process.
Others claim Peterson brass is better.
We are still referring to 6 ARC.

Any ideas or suggestions.
Can you post a link? or DM one to me.
I had cases give up that I don't think should have gave up.

Will post this for all interested in 6 ARC. Rather than using someone else’s posts, comments, or ideas.
I found another forum the other day, just by accident. . Not advertising for it, not associated with it, just letting folks on this forum know it is there. Still believe this forum is the best, With the best information shared, by the most experienced, and willing to share.

To all interestd the forum I found is simply 6 ARC forum. I have not really searched through it, just a quick look through.

To all a great day!

I bought an APF AR in 6 arc. Finally got a suppresser and Razor LHT on it. Factory Hornady 105 hpbt. 1.5" at 200 yards. This is a little off topic, but it speaks to the potential of this neat little cartridge.

I'm glad to see so many satisfied shooters using the 6 ARC. I bought a complete 16" Aero Precision upper and the Aero lower from Brownells. However my goal was a general purpose rifle that handled very well in close and extended the effective range well past a 16" AR 15 in 5.56 x 45.

My rifle produces (if I don't have a fight with my wife or drink too much or too little coffee) average 1/2" groups with factory 105 Hornady Black at 100 yards.

As I have zero intention of competing with this rifle I put a medium quality LPVO on it and mapped the drops out to 600 yards. I intend this to be a working rifle (truck, horse, PDW) so I have 500 rounds of the same lot factory ammo that I'm shooting up for brass. Enough brass to make hunting/PDW loads ( I'm 69) for the rest of my life.

I want hunting loads so I tested the 103 ELDX it shoots fine, (I bet at range it's not as good as the 105 ELDM), I have a few boxes of factory 103 ELDX for load control so I'm good to go as soon as I get my digital scale. The 6 ARC in my opinion for an AR is too sensitive to load for using my old balance beam. Just me!

I'm guessing that since the 6 ARC seems to work well for so many shooters that it may just just develop some staying power.

I had a blast shooting mine at camp Perry long range this year in AR-Tactical. 109 berger with too much AA-2520 gives me 2650 from a 22” barrel. I did shear a bolt lug around 1000 rounds in. Using a jp bolt now.

Don't know much about AA -2520. What is the difference between it and 2520.?
The AA 2520 must have been extremely hot, or the 6 ARC Bolts gas gun bolts just have a 1000 round life expectancy. Have heard many reports of lug breakage @ 1000 rounds.

Thank you

If you're hearing of sheared bolts in AR 15 8n 6MM ARC, I'd look for something wrong with the load of the build.

In this case the velocity posted with the powder leads me to believe too much of a too fast a powder.

Park Ranger post #32 using AA 25-20 pushing 109 Bergers sheared bolt lug at Camp Perry.

Accurate Arms 2520. It’s a ball powder. Yes, Hornady says (and quick load) to stay at 28.1 grains for 52 ksi at 2600 fps in a 22” barrel. I was using 28.7 grains. It was too hot but shot good. I rolled the dice and lost.
