Great question, are you asking for the gas gun 6MM ARC?

If so I would think that one could nit pick and ramble on but that would be the least of my considerations. According to Hornady the 108/110 class projectiles all lose around 310 to 330 FPS from a 28" tube down to 16" with all powders listed..

Speaking of practical reloading, I just got back from the range, tested the factory 105 Black averaged 2527 FPS at 8 feet from the muzzle on my Caldwell. Rifles is a complete Aero Precision upper from Brownells which came with a Ballistic Advantage stainless steel barrel. An Aero Precision M4E1 lower.

I just got my 103 ELDX's in and worked some loads. At 29.4 grains of LeverEvolution (1/10th grain under max from Hornady LeverEvolution data) I got 2524 FPS. The brass had zero indications of any issues and my reloads extracted to the same place as the factory. DONE!
Loading up a bunch, grabbing a bite and heading to zero with the load and shoot steel out to 650 with iron sights.

What length of Ballistics advantage barrel?
All of you 6 ARC experienced guys have settled on Lever, I assume for Prs shooting and group sizing , with the 103 / 108 Gn bullets. My intent will be for my local range of 100 / 600 yards . Maybe 2 or 3 times a year see what can be done at ELR shooting. No competition, no hunting, will have to see how many ferocious milk jugs can be eliminated.

Craddock building a complete upper for me 26 in Bartlein stainless 1/ 7ish gain twist barrel using Aero Precision upper receiver. All the specifics have been left to his expertise, as he has done considerable more than me.

Had figured on using Bergers, may have to settle for Sierra, or Hornady bullets.

It may be ideal to look at the velocities per barrel length in the 108/110 data. I wanted a general-purpose rifle, CQB, hunting and truck or horse rifle, I chose the 16" barrel and I got 2524 with the 103 ELDX a near exact match for what I got with 105 grain match factory ammo. I just got back from my first real test shoot at range with the 103's. I need to wrangle the grand kids so I'll post the results later I shot out to 650 on steel.

The 26" will get you near maximum for all bullet weights, Hornady only lists tests for the 108/110 up to 28" barrels. I'd say 2700 FPS + or - .
 
Ok the grand kids have left. After developing my safe max 103 ELDX load for my 16" barreled AR I went to paint some steel before the boys pulled it down.

The reality is that my rifle is ridiculously easy to shoot and hit with. I loaded up 40 rounds, went to my local (10 minutes from my house) range and got on at 300 yards with the new load.

I left the range and drove to where the steel was set up, 24" squares. It was as perfect a range day as I've ever seen, a tad of gray in the sky with almost zero wind.

They had plates at 300, 400, 500 and the last one out as far as they could at 650 that all needed paint. That was the most work to be done. The 300 and 400 went without a miss, it took 2 to but the 2nd hit at 500 but then followed up with 2 more hits.

I clicked up my sights and was over the top at 650 for the first shot. Held a bit lower and was over the top again, a 6 o'clock hold had me pinging at 650 I thought a bit right. Repeat with a shift left and pinged 3 more times with no misses. The wind loved me today!

I thought I'd try a drop, acquire and fire drill. On the double quick for 100 yards, drop, acquire and fire with no bipod or bags, timed from the drop to the ping for each shot.

I learned 2 things, I'm too old for this shit and at 68 having a major shoulder surgery, 2 knees replaced and 2 cancer surgeries I shoot better than I run. 3 solid hits at 650, 1 that I think was a rock kicked into the edge of the plate by a real miss and a clean miss. Each shot took 9+ seconds, and I'm too tired to do it again.

That has been my experince with AR's chambered in 6 arc,


mine makes an average shooter like myself look like sergeant York
 
Fixing to get back into playing with my 6 arc's. Currently have a 22" Satern barrel. Purchased a new 16" faxon barrel to play with. Thinking about 70 or 75gr projectiles. I found three hundred 75gr speer varmint bullets, should be good behind xbr 8208

I wonder if the 6ARC would be a chambering that sees major benefits from custom throats?

I really researched the 6MM ARC and like you I was not impressed by early reports. I started seeing many decent ones so I bought.

I posted on a YouTube channel that mine was shooting average 1/2" groups and the poster said I was full of it, because he built the rifles and none did better than an inch. About 3 months later he posts that he improved the 6ARC with changing the throat.

He was simply chambering the eary rifles wrong, unfortunately he was selling them too.

From you 6 ARC guys shooting the heavy projectiles have any of you shot the 115 gr. DTAC bullets. Any significant advantage over the Bergers, or Sierras. ELR steel will be the main goal. Your thoughts and or suggestions are appreciated.

I'm still developing with the Barnes 112. Some encouraging results with CFE223, but nothing conclusive. Also did OK with 2520. On hold for now due to winter. I'm using a 26" bolt gun.
