Anyone have info on the 6mm American?

The 30 American was a special run 30/30 case with small primer pocket. The benchrest guys played with it. Might be a 6mm version of that.

Dave Tooley did a 6mm, as did Seeley Masker, imho. The 6mm Seeley Masker Wasp was one. It was popular enough that Norma and Lapua were forced to improve their offering vastly to compete. It would have buried the PPC, imho; if they had not quickly. Shooters just prefered to buy ready to trim and fireform over having to neck the 30 American to 6mm.

Seems like I remember a 6mm/22-250 being referred to as a 6mm American. Some tried it for across the course shooting but it never caught on. The 6XC being very close in dimension did catch on later.

I believe that was 6mm International, but in the world of wildcat names, who knows?

6MM American is based on the 30-30 case. Basically a 6MM Donaldson Wasp of our own design. I have reamers in 22, 6MM, 25, 30 and I think 7MM.
