6mm alsop or 6mm08 need help

first post guys great site I came across a mauser rifle that had a long barrel it was marked 6mmalsop did a chamber cast and it was a 308 necked down to 6mm I have no load data and never heard of the round ive exhausted my searches please help

Don't think so it's exactly 308 dimensions except neck is 6mm I tried doing a search on 6mm also wich is stamped in barrel to no avail

If the barrel is good(have it scoped) I would have it rechambered to .243 or something more common at least and maybe even a 6mm rem or something.

I would fire 243 loads and brass in it. If Standard 243 brass has headspace that is too short for your chamber, then neck down 7/08 brass and set the headspace using a Crush fit on the brass.

You do not have a big problem to solve at all with your 6/308 chamber.
