6mm ackley loads

I second the articles by Richard Franklin on this site. With moly or HBN coating and N-160 I can approach his results with a Savage LRPV action.

win 760 will get you 3800+ in a 26" 12" twist barrel with short throat.

8" twist will kill the velocity.

Thanks for the advice. It is a rb/rp repeater target action with a 12tw Kreiger at 26 long with a .060 free bore. I started with richards loads, just looking for something different to try. What kind of accuracy can I expect from this. It is also bedded in a h.s precision stock. It is shooting in the upper 2s to upper 3s with n160 and the 75 vmax at 3780-3800.

I advise you to quit while you are ahead. If you like load developing get a cartridge easier on the barrel. Congrats.

I second Steves post, the 6AI is one heck of a fast/flat cartridge, I torched my 6AI barrel at 798 rounds, but while I was shooting it with 105 lapua Scenars (8 twist)it was one heck of a lot of fun.

I have that same barrel in a 27" length, Vais brake, about 700 rounds down the tube and it shoots well under .5". I'm shooting H414 which I'm told is W760, 70's right at 3950. Once I found a load I stopped load development, it's my go to rifle for one shot kills on feral pigs.
