I picked up some of these to try out in my Savage 6x6.8 rig and yea I am pretty happy with how they shoot. They are going to replace the 90 & 95 g nosler HBT bullets Ive used for antelope/deer since 2016. The Noslers are very accurate and a great game bullet but they may be put out to rest.
My sierra load is identical to my nosler load, 29g X8208 and runs them at 3037 fps, vs 2987 for the 95 noslers, not much difference in speed besides 5g in weight. The sierra are .490 BC, vs nosler at .379. The nosler hbt drop deer & goats on the spot and always exit, even at 515 yds. Ill see what the sierra TGK do this weekend for goats out here.
Side by side the sierra are just the green tip longer and a lot slimmer.
I ran them to 500 yards using my 95g nhbt drops and they hit the same. Thats nice so I have no need to make a new drop chart for them. I did 4 seating depths today, my base at 2.290, the 2.300, 2.390 and 2.400. Max to lands in my rig for TGK is 2.401.
I was very happy to see at 2.290" they went into 672", at 2.400" they went .524" w/4 shots. I had a flyer with #5 shot saying to myself "into the same hole" thus naturally I flubbed it to .903" with 5 shots.
The 2.300" and 2.390" opened up a bit more so after 2 shots of each of them I gave up on those COLs, then 2.400" closed right back down.
My 6x6.8 has a tad over 1200 rounds through it, 1/9" P3 grooved, 22", suppressed Ritch Precision arms bbl, (old BHW barrel dealer).
Ill post a game report after I take my goat with them.
