6mm-6.8 Rem SPC

I've been researching this cartridge for a minute and was thinking of charmbering a 14 twist 24" barrel that I have. I was thinking of using this as a varmint rig in a bolt gun. I would like your thoughts on twist rate, barrel length, powder and bullets.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season

Ron, I will be watching this thread as I was thinking of this cartridge in a AR platform, if I was building a bolt gun I would build a 6 br instead of the this one tho.

I have built 3 6x6.8 coyote rigs in the last 2 years.
IMO go with a 1/9" twist. It will run 55-95 g bullets into small holes in targets and 800 yards in not out of its range.
I stayed at 22" in length (perfect length for full powder burns) in the AR15 and both my Savage builds. I run suppressed.
55g nosler bullet is at 3576 fps, (have run them to 3683 fps).
Average 55g targets are from .307" to .625"
65g vmax 3403 fps, .360"-.690"
95g bullet runs at 3037, .609"
87vmax at 3044 moderate load.
85g SGKHP 3047 same load as 87VM.
The above fit right in w/.243 speeds.
H335, x8208 are my go to powders.
I ran 20 different powder combos & every 55g to 95g bullet & 100 different charge combos in my tests.
SSA/Hornady SRP and R-P LRP brass, made no difference in groups.
I run a mix of primers, no difference.
I have yet to run a bullet that didnt print in the sub moa @ 100 yds.
I have taken antelope at 430 yards, 1 shot kills and way over 300 coyote with the 55g load to date.
I do all my own builds and use BHW P3 drop in barrels.
CHD4 has the dies (call to get them)
I run redding type s bushing 6.8 spc dies and a Hornady 243 seating die.

A barrel length of 22" sounds good for a bolt gun but a 9T is too close to the 8T AR I already have. I was hoping to get some input for a varmint rig, maybe a 14T is too slow but I would like to shot flat based 70gr bullets. Would a 12T be a better choice?

I talked to my smith over the weekend and he recommends I use a 12T for this project. He feels the 12T would be best between 200-350 yards. Now he's interested in building one for himself.

I've got that reamer and was thinking of rebarreling a PPC myself, recon tour it and make ready for a remmy short action

I just ordered a 12T barrel blank. I too have the reamer now and will be setting mine up on a small shank Savage. Dies and brass are on the way as well.
