6mm-284 project

I am about to build two 6mm-284 rifles and need to spec a reamer for the rifles.

I need to get an idea on the size neck for the reamer. I want a no turn neck using sized down 6.5-284 Lapua brass and shoot either pointed 107SMK or pointed 115DTACs.

What about COAL?? I am going to use M700 long actions with Badger Ord/AI floor metal so I have plenty of room to seat them way on out there. What are you guys running?

I do not have any brass/dies yet to get measurements off of.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Carver. I have 3 rifles in 6mm-284. 1 is my walking rifle Rem M7 and twin Rem 700 SAs LR rifles,Var. Tar.)all 3 were barreled by Hart they have .276 NKs I use unturned 6.5-284 Lapua brass for all 3 sized with Redding Comp bies .273 bushing .It sounds like you want to use a mag. fed action, long as you said) your COL will be much longer. What twist are you planning, what length barrel,

I talked to Tim North at Broughton and he recommended their 8 twist for the 107 and he said he could pull a ~7-3/8 twist for the 115 if I want to go that route. Both rifles will have 26" light palma barrels.

I am going to use the Badger Ord floor metal with the AI mags. Remove the front strap off the AI mag to get the ~2.920" COAL.

Thanks for the onfo on the necks.

Jason,

After hearing you talk about the caliber, I'm definitely considering it as well, although 6mm Rem AI is probably leading my list for long action calibers since you can get about the same speed as the 6-.284). So you're planning on running the badger .308 AICS mags with the front plate out in a long action receiver? Are you certain that will work? I've never heard of anyone doing that. I was thinking about using a standard bottom metal and feeding as a single shot...no reason to burn the throat up any quicker than that.
