6mm-250 AI powder sggestions

I've got a 6mm-250 AI built with a 22" 1-8" Lilja #2, rem 700, macmillan classic. I built it to shoot 105 Amax or HPBT as a general purpose bumming around gun. I fully expected the gun to shoot well with H4350, or maybe H4831 SC, but neither do better than 1.5 moa. Groups are nice and round, and velocity is good- just no accuracy. Cases are FF Winchester. I had a thought that N160, or 165 might work well, but I would certainly appreciate any thoughts you all might have.

What velocities are you getting and which primers are you using? I could be wrong but, with a barrel that length you may not be using up all the powder giving the slower powders you are using?

I know a couple of guys that use IMR 8208 in their 6XCs (similar to. 6-250) and get good results. Don't know charge weight, however.

BR-2 primers. I'm right around 3000 fps. I have wondered if N150 or Varget might eb worth a try.

I can't see anything wrong with your primer choice but, maybe going to a bit faster powder might be worth a try! How far are you shooting groups at? Try slowing them down to 2,950 and see what that does for you! Everything I've read the 105's like that 2,900-2,950 speed!

I would try some regular CCI 200 primers. I have tried the BR primers in a few 22-250's and AI and just didn't get any accuracy with them. Switched to 200's and cut groups in half. Just an idea.

With groups that large, I cannot believe it's both the powders you tried. I'd retry the faster 4350, and try tuning the bullet jump. (Where are you seating the bullets now?)

This is off the wall, but have you considered CFE 223? It seems very versatile judging from Hodgdon's data, and bye bye copper fouling. (That Lilja might be smooth as a baby's bottom, but still ...)

Change the bullet. Try a Berger 105gr VLD or Lapua scenar. Your rifle may not like the bullets your using. And H4350 should be fine for that but try the Vit and also try Reloder powders aswell. I have two 6x47L barrels and one likes REloder with Lapua and the other likes H4350 and hybrids.
