6Dasher feeding out of a long action

do you think it's possible for a 6 Dasher to feed out of a 700 LA?

I have a 700 LA sitting here and just never have found what i wanted to do with it. But i have been thinking i have a barrel #3 sporter 1-8 twist 6mm for a dasher sporter build. I was just thinking maybe i would just have it put on that 700 LA and another barrel same countor in .284 win. a switch barrel sporter. I have been playing around with it and i really dont see why it wont feed, just have to be carefull with them so they dont pop out the ejection port.

you could make it work but you would have to have two magazine boxes and two followers one for the dasher and one for the 284 and you would still have problems with brass not completely ejecting and jamming the action I know mausers are not that popular but they would work better with little stubby casses with the way their ejector works

I built exactly the same caliber combo you are considering for a friend. Ended up having to run the Dasher as a slngle as it would not feed or eject correctly. Good luck with your project.

Paul

I think if you'd take the l/a mag box and make an aluminum spacer, similar to the 223 (or 17, 204, etc) spacers in their magazines, it may work, along with a 243/308 length follower.

Pretty simple project anyone (caveman included) can do with a piece of aluminum, hacksaw, and a file. Once you get it made, drill and pop rivet it to the rear of one side of the magazine. Make up three dummy rounds and see how it feeds. You may have to bend the very top of the box outward to capture more of the round, to hold it under the feed rails.

A little time and very little expenditure, should tell you if it'll work. If not, drill out the rivet, and you're back to square one.

I did the same thing but with a 6.0x47L and 284. I use both rounds as a single shot.

I never do like putting my Lapua brass in a magazine.

Thinking about adding another BRX barrel to the mix.

I had a Tikka T3 rebarreled in 6BR after discovering they fed magnificently from Tikka's polymer magazines (and with VLD bullets too!)

Thanks for your thoughts on this. alf i'm with you on this, because just playing with the action and dummy rounds if you cycle slow and they are positioned right they do seem to feed ok.

Im just so really up in the air on it, because of the price to have this action worked over as i would like it, then if i put that kind of money into a remy action maybe i would rather it be a SA with a wyatt box lenth mag. then with the price of a action and having the work done i would like, puts you right at the price or even more than a custom action, but then a long wait to get a custom action. then long wait to get a stock for a custom action. so every time i think im ready to decide what way to go with this my head is kind of spinning and im kind of back to square one. Im going to call about a custom, then check a few local smiths. we used to have a guy who was a rem 700 magician and at the prices he charged it was hard not to let him do it because he built me two and they shot in a hole and everyone i knew he built one for shot in a hole. but he took for ever. like 6 months to a year.but he took a job working for a company makeing good money and only does for himself and a few friends, i know he would do one for me but i could not wait for him to do it. I remember one time i waited like 8 months and he kept telling me he would have it done by next weekend. well after about three weeks of that i called him and said i comming down for that rifle today, done or not i will be there to pick it up. so when i got there he was in the back and i waited around for a half hour or so and when he came out, he said here you go and the barrel was warm to the touch..lol....but hey it shot in a hole..I knew a few guy's who after 6 months or more just went and picked up their stuff and never got any work done. a few guy's asked me how do you deal with him..lol..He really is a great guy just not very good bussiness wise.
