6CM

I am in the process of having a rifle built for this round. I have been looking at getting a 6mm tach driver to push the heavier bullets. Between .243, .243ai, 6x47,6SLR and 6CM I chose the 6CM based on wanting something different than the .243. I was swayed towards the 6CM over the 6SLR by a reputable and well respected person. I have everything but my bottom medal and I was going to purchase the reamer from Dave. I purchased dies from and brass (6.5CM to neck down) from Hornady. Lately I've been getting cold feet as I have heard the H brass is soft and crappy for reloading. Some say it's great and some say it's garbage, nothing in between. What are your experiences with this round as far as loading to shooting?

If I had doubts like that I would take the brass you've got, run it through the re-sizing die, check the neck thickness, trim to length and then weight sort them. Your numbers should tell you something. As far as the brass being soft-- lots of people shoot Norma brass which is considered to be soft by many. YMMV, dedogs

Can you buy the reamer? I have been studying that cartridge as well and I thought it was proprietary. It does look like a great cartridge for certain applications. Would like to hear how you work this all out. Of note, I have a friend using Hornady brass for a 6.5 Creedmoor build and the rifle is shooting way sub MOA.

Do you have dies? What manufacturer?

yes I bought a set of Hornady dies. I have once spoken with Dave at PT&G and he has reamers. Keep in mind I'm talking about 6 creedmoor and not Competition Match.

If I am not mistaken I believe GAP sells formed brass for this round. Might be worth checking into. Good luck and keep us posted. ;)

I've been hearing that Winchester-Western is loading match ammo for the 6.5 Creedmoor. Haven't seen any yet, but if it's true, there's another source of brass for the ctdg. OTOH, I bought 1000pcs of 6 HAGAR brass made by Hornady a couple of years ago, and have had great results with it. My spacegun/match rifle upper shoots better than it ever did using this brass, so I wouldn't worry so much about the quality of Hornady brass.

GAP sells dies and 6 Creedmoor head stamped brass made by Hornady. There are a few other places that sell the reloading components and ammo aswell. This is a really sweat little round.

You can't make 6cm brass from 6.5 Creedmoor brass. You have the 6CM (Competition Match) made from 243 brass as the parent case, and the 6mm Creedmoor made from 6.5 Creedmoor brass as the parent case mixed up. Two different cartridges

Thanks so much for all your input. Yes I am referring to 6 Creedmoor. I have to apologize for my ignorance as I have been referring to 6 creedmoor when I say 6CM, not realizing there is a cartridge out there 6CM. Which now has me thinking about the real 6CM(Comp Match) I have been hearing nothing but great things about this round. High round count before a rebarell and the abundance of .243 brass from several manufactures. To many options, just need to pull the trigger on one. Thanks again you guys are great

That was a great read, thanks much. The more I read about this round the more I want to have one. If worse comes to worse the dies and brass is unopened new and a reamer is the same price. Decisions decisions. Thanks again for all the info

I will let you Joe, thanks no need to take a loss when I do decide and if you still have them. I only need a reamer and my bottom metal and off to a smith she goes.
