What are the differences between these two cartridges??????

6CM (left) vs 243 Imp. 30 (center) vs 6mm Super LR (right).

6CM and 243 Imp 30 are virtually the same in capacity and performance although ever so slightly different case dimensions.

Donnie, How many rounds do you have thru your 6CM and is it still a 1/2 MOA barrel?

3100 and still under 1/2 moa at longrange. It has it's good days and it has it's bad, which are still good. ;D In about 400 or so more rounds I'll put it on paper again. Got me a new target stand for 850. Back to the OP, Phil this barrel is going to go 4500 and then I'll bet that it will still be capable of less then 1 moa... If Joe can do it I can...

Who makes dies for the CM????

Are they a custom deal???

Can(do) you use Lapua brass in the CM???

What kind of case forming is involved???

Phil, Redding makes the Die and it is Custom.
You can use Lapua Brass but you will have to turn the necks, if you use Win. you don't have to turn.
Easy to form, use the false shoulder method.
I FF with 115 DTAC's and 48 grains of H-1000 at 1000 yards. I could not hit the 8 inch gong every shot, but the 10 inch was not a problem to hit every shot. I was doing this just to test it a little, which I always do something different to see what kind of accuracy I can get from this thing.

Can you safely and/or effectively shoot factory 243 in the 6CM? How much increase in case capacity is there? Do you get much velocity increase over a standard 243 or is the modification mainly meant for better barrel life and accuracy over the standard 243?

The first ten rounds I shot in my 1st 6CM was factory. Yes you can safely, depending on brand, and it was effective at 200 yards, only because that is as far as I shot that day. Case capacity is 56 grains of H2O. I believe it best the .243 in every way. I know that is a bold statement but it is what it is.
