6BRX with 115 bergers

Is anyone shooting 6brx with 115 bergers and what kind of results are you getting?, Using a 1 in 8 twist 30 inch tube to shoot midrange. Would there be any advantage over the 105s

Be advised Berger recommends minimum 1:7 twist for their 6mm 115 VLD.

If you haven't already bought a box to mess with, let me know. I have some left from when I tried them in a 1:8 Schneider chambered in 6XC a few years back.

There were a few that never made it to the target. Scorer said they saw weird traces, sometimes a grey cloud downrange....

While that barrel & subsequent 1:7.5 twist PacNor's shot the DTAC115 well I eventually settled on Berger's 105VLD which can be pushed a little faster, wiping out 99.9% of the DTAC'S slight BC advantage. Recently I've found their 105Hybrid to be even better than the VLD.

Hello Jack, you will NEVER get 115's to properly shoot out of a 1-8 twist barrel.. I have a very good friend who spent quite a bit of $$$'s on an F-Open rifle in 6XC.. He had one flaw in his arrangement, he wanted to shoot 115DTAC's with the 8 twist barrel he had on his rig. They would shoot "okay" at 300 (upper 580's to low 590's) BUT at 600 yards his scores were in the toilet! He changed to the Berger 105 Hybrids and he can once again compete with the "best of 'em" at 600 and beyond... You have to move a projectile REALLY fast to get the proper rotational spin that can easily be imparted only by the proper twist rate..

If you use a Bartlein 8 twist or others with a 7.8 twist with the DTAC 115's they will shoot super and they are better than the 105H Bergers in the wind and way better in the head and tail wind and they will shoot in the 2's at 1K and under .600 at 500Yds. The 115 Berger i use for fire forming...... jim

The advertised BCs between the 105 hybrid and 115 are functionally identical.

In a BRX case you'll give up some speed with a 115.

1:8 is a marginal twist rate; it might work, might not.

Why bother?
