6BRX resizing question..

Forgive my ignorance as this is my first foray with the 6BRX.

I've done a little fire-forming and want to get started resizing my fired cases. I've got a Redding Type-S die and the appropriate bushing, but how do you buys go about setting up a 6BR die for the 6BRX?

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

To size the base of the brass, I use a 308 body die. The Redding Type S die is used to size the case up by the shoulder, size the neck, and to set the shoulder back.

I push the shoulder back .0015" to .002" as measured from a fired case. That will keep from working the brass excessively. Use one of the Stoney Point tools to gauge shoulder set-back.

It is pretty easy to prep the Lapua brass. BRX will put the rounds right where you point them.

clark98ut,

Bob hit it dead center. I hit base with the 308 first, then bump the shoulder and neck with the S die.

Do you have to size the body? what if you were just neck sizing? But i like the idea of having a die made set up for it.

If you don't resize the body it will get tight in the web area and click at the top of the bolt lift if you shoot hot loads.

Also if you are using a body die make sure you size the body before you bump the shoulder. If you bump the shoulder first and then body size it may stretch the shoulder back out and the headspace will be tight. It happened to me anyways one time.

Good Luck,
Dallas

243 or 7-08 die work if I don't have a 308 die? I'd assume so, but there might be some subtle difference I'm unaware of.

Newbie here as well. I have just started shooting the 6mmBR Norma and already have
Redding S type small base full length size bushing die & wilson straight line seater etc.
If I were to rechamber to the BRX I would simply need to puchase a 308 body die for the
base??? Could the wilson straight line seater die still be used? Sorry about the stupid
questions but I'm learning as I go. I'm happy with the 6BR at the moment but interested
in whether I'd have to purchase new dies if I ever went down the BRX route.

Fordnutter,
Yes on the 308 body. You would need to have the Wilson seater reamed by the same chamber then it would work for a BRX and a 6BR. You could get a Redding 6br seater. I like the wilson seater myself.
