6BRX Reamer ?

I'm looking to build a 6BRX with a .272 neck and want to shoot the Breger 105 Hybrids what free bore are most of you guys going with. Thanks

Personally I would run with around a .125" free bore with a one and a half degree throat angle.

You might want to also reconsider yr neck of 272. 272 works with old cardboard box brass but the new blue box stuff is thinner.

The .272 neck works fine with the blue box brass. I personally wouldn't worry about it if your not going to buy your own reamer. I have shot plenty of blue box brass in .272 chambers and the old stuff side by side and see no difference at all. And the new stuff has been reloaded its far share with no problem. The .125 free bore should be great for the 105 pills.

Does a .125 freebore get the junction of the bullet shank/ boatail above the neck/shoulder junction? Only reason I ask is I am in the same situation in needing info about getting the correct 6 BRX reamer. The 105 Hybrid just seems like it would need a bunch more freebore than a 105 VLD.

My favorite BRX reamer I own out of 4 of them has a .140 FB. I much prefer to keep the bullet bearing surface above the spot the bushing stops on the case neck.

As RCW3 has stated before, you need to specify the case length along with the freebore recommendations since the case length is not standard on 6BRX and freebore+case-length is the number you need.

I know this is an old topic, but say you had 1.566 case length / .112" FB / 1* .... How would this work for the Hybrids & possibly VLD's? Is this enough to get the boatail into the neck, forward of any doughnut?

I have three 6mmBRX reamers and have cut over 1000 BRX chambers. I is easier to remove metal than put it back. For 105-107 bullets I would recommend a .104" throat. You know it is going to move over the life of the barrel. Fire forming I jam .035" with 30.5 gr of Varget. The rifle shoots well enough to shoot matches out to 600 yards with fire forming loads. My to hgo to loads begin at 32.2 and go to 32.6 until I find a sweet spot. I have had slow barrels that required up to 33.6gr of varget. But I would start at 32.2. The ideal velocity is between 3000 and 3080 fps. Start with 200 pieces of brass reload them 16 times and start over with a new barrel and brass.
