6brx neck turning question

Hey guy's I am close to needing to start loading for my new 6brx as a matter of a fact I would be ready tomorrow if PP&G hadn't forgot my go guage in my reamer shipment anyway my question is my chamber will have a .269 neck so I will probably will have to turn around a .001 or so off my necks my Question is how far do I turn? .100 or so? the full 6br neck? after firing I am sure I will have to finish turning, well you know what info I need, I guess I will shut up and just let you tell me please ;D I would appreciate any info on it please and thank you.

Wayne- i'm still new to wildcat stuff, so read with caution. I believe the best course of action though is to go ahead and turn the whole neck up into the shoulder just a smidge. Thinking about it, after forming the new case the high spots could still be anywhere along the neck length. I wouldn't think you would want any inconsistancies with bullet release upon firing, so why not do a full turn? If memory serves, .012 to .015 seems like the number clearance i've seen from guys who turn that don't shoot BR. Then again, the BR guys hold much tighter, .001 and maybe less; or just enough to allow even release, whatever that works out to in their equipment. Only they know what that is for them. Whatever you decide, if it were me, i'd err on the "just a little more" side and not less. Hopefully Laurie, Boyd or Greman will weigh in on this for you. If they do, listen close, their experience will save you some time and aggrivation. Duke

Wayne, I`m sure there are several opinions on this, but the way I do it is to turn the whole neck as the 6BR. I have seen donuts in standard 6BR cases, and didn`t like that, so to eliminate them in the BRX turn all the neck. I do this with Dasher brass as well.

Turn the necks before FF. Turn down short of the shoulder, but not into.

What do you plan to use for a sizing die after they have been fired? Will you size the whole neck or a portion?

Thanks for all the advice, I have a 20" hart barrel I am going to use for fireforming the brass, when I am done I will screw my 1:8 Krieger on for matches. A new idea came to me today, I am going to ream my 20" fireforming barrel with my new 6brx .269 neck, then I am going to run my 6br reamer with a .272 neck to open up the neck then I will fire form my brass then turn the neck to whatever I need to to fit my .269 neck. I then will have my tight necked match chamber for 1000 yard BR and I should end up with a nice 20" varmint barrel with a no turn chamber, what do you guy's think of my idea?

I bought a Newlon die that had been reamed by Mike Davis for the 6brx from tclaunch, it takes standard wilson or Redding bushings, I planned on buying a set of Neil Jones dies once I have some fire formed cases to send him, but I'll no more after I get loading with the die I have. Let me know what you think.
