6BRX & JLK 105?

Has anyone used the JLK 105s in a 6BRX. Would like to know how they shoot. Also, what powder were you using? I was thinking, if I put thousands of dollars in a rifle, I shouldn't be skimping on bullets. They are only a few dollars more per 100. I am a true believer in Sierra 107s but I want something a little more consistent. The barrel is a Bartline 1/8" 30" long. It has a freebore of .104.

I doubt you'll be disappointed... I love 'em in 6XC out to 1,200 yards just for the reason you state: consistency.

I'm running 8208XBR in a 30" Bartlein 1:7.8 barrel in either 2nd Gen Tubb or Norma 6XC brass, or sometimes Lapua Palma (small primer) brass formed down to 6XC with equally great results downrange.

Also a fan of the 105VLD in my 6HAGAR and 6RAT spacegun uppers for mid-range and 600 yard stages across-the-course.

I have JLK and BIB's along with several others, I havn't found anything that does better than the smk 107's in my BRX!

I have excellent results with my 6/47 Lapua and JLK 105's , out of a Broughton 5C 30 inch barrel . I
think it's a matter of what your chamber and barrel likes . I shot the 6BRX before this barrel , and it
shot much slower and it didn't like the JLK's . I just started up another 6BR with a Kreiger 5R barrel and
I'm amazed how much faster it is than my previous Kreiger 5R , same caliber , same rifle , same bore size. Krieger has no
answer for the extra fps other than that barrel likes , those bullets and that load much better ;D , huh !?

I agree, 107 SMK's and Varget are hard to beat in the 6brx my son is shooting that combo again this year but I am trying the 105 Hybrids and the 103 Spencers and I may use H-4895 it showed a lot of promise in my sons 6brx and I like the fact it is more consistent lot to lot then Varget is. I have never used JLK bullets so I can't give a answer but I have read good things about them. The problem with SMK's is they don't buck the wind very well at long range, that is why I am moving towards the VLD style bullet,...We'll see, if not I have several thousand SMK's all of the same lot.

+1 to what spclark said. I shoot the 105 JLK's in a 6AR, 6XC and 6 SLR. Thats a velocity range between 2,750 and 3,150 fps. Just stick them in the lands .010 and go to work. I've never shot a BRX but I'd be surprised if they won't shot for you out of your bbl. All of the calibers mentioned above are 8 twist tubes.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

I couldn't get them to work and have 391 of the 105gr VLDs that I'll let go for $115 shipped.

Odd, the .224 80gr-ers worked great in another rifle.

How are you seating them? I've shot them .020" off, not bad, wonder if something else would be better.

Everyone has unique answers. I'm currently shooting some 75gr JLK's in .223 that are jumping a bunch. Think +.100". They wouldn't shoot until I jumped them. <.5" groups at 200yds consistently. These are not long enough to seat in the brass if I wanted to put them in the lands with my chamber.
